Teleport problem on non-dedicated server
So i play with a friend on a non-dedicated server hosted by him and we have set the allowed distance between us on like a million meters, but still i get teleported back to him if we get "too far apart" (AKA if he flies to the other side of the map) or, strange enough, when i go into the water while he isnt, i immediately get teleported back to him as well. Does somebody know how we can fix this because although it was funny at first it is starting to get really annoying now. Thanks in advance

There is no way to completely turn off Tethering in a Non-dedicated server. Caves and water count as different zones so you will get a lot of teleporting from both of those. Your only alternative is to convert your game to a dedicated server. If you PC can handle a non-dedicated server for two people, it can also run a dedicated server on the same PC as you play. It will not take any more resources.
@crimsondrac, So far I've been running the non dedicated server for us (2 players) with no performance problems except the described teleporting. Do you also know how I can run the dedicated server and play at the same time?
You have to launch the server outside of Steam. Look for Ark Server manager. It is a UI to help people setup servers. Once the server is running, you can just launch the game through Steam and you should see the server in the server list. If you are all on the LAN, you can set the server filter to LAN and it should show your machine.
Will try that tomorrow, thanks for the reply!

We're not on LAN but if we name it properly I don't expect finding it to be a problem :steamhappy:
If you are not on a LAN, you will need to open and forward some ports on your router.Ark server manager will help you define the ports then you will need to log into your router and set those ports to forward to the LAN IP address of the PC running the server. Also make sure you open the ports in Windows Firewall or temp disable the firewall while the server is running. It is not as hard as it sounds and there are lots of guides, just google it.
