Free Week can you play with the Ragnorok map?

I am on the fence on the game a few friends invited me to to play on their server but they are using Ragnorok it seems though, I cant install it,

Yes, Ragnarok is a free DLC. Have you tried unchecking and rechecking the box in the DLC list on the library ARK page?

I guess you can only try the base game, the island map. If you want to try others maos, content, then you need to buy it. Hope you enjoy the game, its really fun and really good.

Incorrect. Ragnarok is and always has been a free dlc. It was originally created by a modder who was hired onto the development team and the map was made official, but it is free.

I dont get that option guys with the dlc unchecking I know what you are referencing. its not there.

Further note I try to download with the steam link it just launches the game.

Mybe the free version does not include the free maps. They could have done this as its another way to encourage some sales of the base game. Let people play and think "hmmm if i buy the base game i do get these other 2 dlc for free..."

But he dont bought the game, he is trying the game, thats why he cant donwload anythig more apart from the bade game. The game started a free week try for anyone that want to try it out.

If you are playing with the Free Week, you more than likely are limited to ONLY the Island. Even though Ragnarok and The Center are Free DLC's they are more than likely locked until you actually own the game.

It probably has something to due with Ragnarok having scorched earth content. I bet he needs the DLC to run it now.

Nah you never needed to own SE to run ragnarok. You never needed any paid DLC to get the other dinos as they were available via console commands and others transferring dinos to vanilla maps and then giving them to you. Its more likely just that the free version is limited because it cost you nothing.

You do realize the post you pinned as answering your question had nothing to do with your question and my response answered it. You can't play anything but Island for the Free "trial" of the game.
