Direwolf - battle mount?

Hi, I'm in a middle of taming direwolf atm. It's the first wolf I actually met in game so can't say, how strong it is with base 100% dmg etc. Anyway it's lvl 116, 1350 hp, 650 stam and 180 % dmg. Our max wild spawn is set to 120, PVE unofficial server with 2 ppl, I am lvl 71. My question is, would it be a good battle mount with these stats or how many of hp, dmg etc would be enough to make it a good weapon or kill even a Rex or Alpha Raptor? Is better wolf or cat?

Yes. I didnt read the stats, but YES. Direbears make excellent combat mounts.

Direbear or direwolf? Wolves make good combat pets tho.

Dire wolves hit extremely hard and are very powerful. You do have to keep in mind though that they don't have a saddle and thus don't have any armor protection. You could probably kill wild rex with it but, personally, I wouldn't try to go against an alpha with a wolf; it would be way to easy to loose. I prefer to use argents for alphas so, if the fight is going badly, you can get away easily.

Dire wolves make decent battle mounts mostly due to their fast speed, and high damage output. BUT they are glass cannons effectively. They generally can't take a whole lot before keeling over and playing dead puppy on you. Still if you watch the wolfs health while mounted, and are quick, you can melt just about anything with a few hits short of an alpha.

I Always fight with a mated set of wolves, maybe one day they will fix the alpha bonus for running a pack. The real fun is Riding a Direbear with a mate boosted set of wolves beside you killing anything in your path(make sure to pump health and dmg for the flanking wolves)

A pack of about six wolves can mow through just about anything short of a Giga, Alpha Rex and Titano.

My bad, Direwolf. Both are good. Only downside is the lack of armor, you will need to forcefeed him prettty often to heal up.
