Giant Reinforced Trapdoor(Read description please)
Okay, so I know this has probably been asked hundreds of times before, but I can't find a lengthy discussion on them, so what I would like to know is:
How is this thing labeled a trap door? It opens upwards, is there any way to get it to open downwards when someone steps on it? This pathway I created requires the giant one unless I want to make 4 of the smaller trap doors, but that makes pathways people can use to travel on and avoid it.

How do I actually turn this thing into a legit trap door so I can watch members of enemy tribes fall helplessly into a pit of spike walls that they can't get out of? lmao

Use keypad to open it downward

Man... if you are dumb enough to walk onto a trap door, since they have a different texture than ceilings/floors, you deserve to fall into a spike pit.

You all but have no choice here unless you fly in. I'm in a cave, and that path is the only way in by foot, lol.

How do I do it, exactly? I've never been high enough of a level to mess around with the keypads and such. Do I just set a pin number on the trap door, and use the same pin on the keypad and just leave it or what?

I don't think the word trap in trapdoor actually means trap. As in Admiral Ackbarf...

Originally, trapdoors were sack traps in mills, and allowed the sacks to pass up through the mill while naturally falling back to a closed position.
Semantics. lmao

Pretty much, open the wheel menu(E) to set the pin to whatever you want the keypad to open/close: doors, gates, windows, trapdoors, etc.

Enjoy your cave then Gollum.

Semantics or not, there's very little trap about it... as a Norwegian, I'd think that trapdoor was some sort of door trapping people... "A door has been made in your workshop. Your workshop is not big enough."

Anywho, keypad does indeed open it downwards. How did I now know this until now...
Yeah, I consider a 'trap door' as something used to trap people with.
Also, I haven't tried the keypad aside from setting a pin on the gigantic trapdoor, then activating it with the keypad...
It seems like it only opens downwards when you push in the number on the keypad, because after putting in the pin and closing then reopening, it opens upwards again... So it might not activate when someone steps on it. I haven't been able to test it yet.
Have you tried it yet with someone who's not a member of your tribe stepping on it? Seems pointless to me if you have to put the pin number in... Because the chance of someone stepping on a trapdoor when(as a poster further up in the thread had said) they're different than the rest of the floor is slim... They're totally not going to stand there while you punch in a pin number to drop them in a spike pit.
