Dedicated server, crash on launch?

So I recently setup a second computer in my living room, I wanna use it as a Dedicated server for ARK for me and my friend, we used to play in Non-dedicated sessions together, but the limit that we can never be far from each others, specially the warping near caves was really a buzz kill.

So i got a second computer, it is above min requirement for the game. I installed steam, downloaded ARK with all Expansion and mods... everything is good...

I launch the game, select "HOST/LOCAL" I set the game's options... tinker with the settings... once all is ready I select RUN DEDICATED SERVER... give it a name, password, admin password... and press Launch..... and BOOM back to desktop... nothing happens.

I tried using a command line I saw from somewhere... creating a BAT file using :

start ShooterGameServer "TheIsland?SessionName=GameServerSetup?QueryPort=27015?ServerPassword=MyPassword?ServerAdminPassword=MYPassword?listen"
exit

Just to see if it works... barebone... same thing happens... once I launch the BAT file... i see a flash of a window opening/closing in a mili-second... and nothing happens...

Anyone has idea what the problem is?

I read somewhere about "Ark Server Manager" am trying it now... but it,s been "updating" for the last 20min... so.... waiting in the mean time...

Ark doesnt actualy run dedicated servers.... when you select the option it simply begins installing steamcmd and a server folder.

P.s. .... you dont need Ark installed at all to run an Ark server :)

Thats the actual video I used to setup the Server Manager and installed everything, I setup a ragnarok server for testing.. once I launch the server I get a CMD window open up.... with all of this in it:

are your ip's matching; especially the query + reg port? +firewall disabled/enabled +allowing for incoming/outgoing communication (may require to tweak this your router)

its a pretty big pain up the ass to get it working on your pc but once you get it; its there to stay.

this might not be helpful but the bat file for command line needs to follow a specific syntax, otherwise it does nothing. It'll boot and stuff but some of the stuff won't run.

Make sure you forwarded your ports. If you can't get it working before the 23rd feel free to add me and i will assist you in getting your server running. Would do it sooner but i am away from home until then.

So... in the server manager I changed the top ip for my computer's IP adress...
In my rooter I've setup the ports 7777 and 27015 which is the server manager seems to use by default... i disabled my firewall for testing purpose... not sure how the in/outgoing communication is 'cuz I never saw it anywhere.. but... again... I get the same CMD window as previously...

and nothing happens... I check in the Steam favorite servers list... I input the ip... and still says server not available...

Never mind... i has the dumb!

Basically the server Takes Quite some time to boot... i let the cmd window run as i checked my ports and everything... just as i abandonned and about to clise everything i noticed the cmd window of the server saying "server now running" lol

Not a very patient man....

Yes... they take a while to boot... even longer with mods.

And sometimes longer if everyone hadnt logged off before the server goes down.

Yes... they take a while to boot... even longer with mods.

And sometimes longer if everyone hadnt logged off before the server goes down.

Did it say exactly that? I mean, because there are some things the cmd window may say while I'm waiting for all time and eternity for it to start. I manage to get the darn thing running at least, but I never see it on the session list... The only thing that may merely cause me to assume it is running is where it said "Full Startup: 313.36 seconds (BP compile: 0.00 seconds)", or "Server: "For da bois" has successfully started!"

Are you running it manually via the ark server API or are you using ASM?

I'm using ASM.

It will say on the same line as the server start button when it is available to join. If it never becomes available or says it is available but you cannot join it then you either have configured something incorrectly or you are trying to connect on the wrong address and/or port.

If you have trouble getting it up and running feel free to add me and ill help you out.
