PLEASE HELP: Cave mob spawns on non-dedicated server
Im running a non-dedicated server with some friends and we are trying to go caving. We've been through the upper south cave and the central cave and very few mobs spawn. Most of them are Onycs and in upper south we found a few sarcos but that was it. Why are there no mobs spawning like I have seen on official servers? and is there a way we can fix this? thanks.

Spawning is known issue for SP and non-dedi.

What can happen is the whole maps worth of spawns spawn near where the player is usually active. Then of course when they go to the caves all of the spawns caps have been reached.

If you insist on still playing non-dedi then lookup console commands. You need to destroy the wild dinos.

But i'd recommend getting Ark Server Manager and just hosting a proper dedicated server.

So would you suggest using the "DestroyWildDinos" command before we enter the cave? Also are the Devs planning to do something about this issue? it seems that its been going on for a few years from the recent google searches I have found.

it can take a little time for everything to respawn, so don't expect it to be a quick thing.
Its generally recommended to do this on the regular even when not caving.

As far as dev plans? Not that I have special access or anything to their plans... But I highly doubt it. Ark IS a multiplayer game. SP and non-dedi are a hack job at forcing a server & client into one. It has as many bugs and issues as you would then expect.

You can also go in and come back out. Wait about 20 minutes and try again. It usually works.

Alright thanks. Just wondering if there was an announcement or anything that I missed. Were thinking of just transferring the server, dinos, players, etc. to a dedicated private server. We understand its multiplayer but we don't want any randoms playing and the officials are too time consuming for our lifestyles. Appreciate the quick responses. Will try the command

Have you experienced this working first hand?

If you have a dedicated server you 100% have full control over who can play on it.

Is there an easy to follow guide to get this set up and running? Or do you just recommend youtubing it

The wiki has a full guide for setting it up manually. But i'd recommend Ark Server manager.

You simply put a password on your server and only those that know the password can access/play on it.

hm. If you don't want randoms playing on your server, you probably shouldn't play at a non-dedicated. I didn't find a way to password the client... (only server-administration.)

Except I missed something. (Because, I play SP and would make my game non-dedicated from time to time, so that I can play with friends. But these opportunities are just too seldom, and I don't have the time nor the patience nor the knowledge to host a pure server.)

I have. It usually works but not 100%.
