Tamed gigas are very nerfed compared to wild gigas.
Your wyvern can fly, why are you having an issue with a non flying creature?
Cryopods achieve balanced PvP content with the cryo sickness.
The "counter play" of having your own giga, this is laughable. If there is a tactic in your game that has no counter play other than to use it against itself, this waters down your gameplay to a point of complete repetition and rock-paper-scissors with some RNG thrown in depending on if someone is able to risk a flyer to pick a giga-rider without getting bitten, and even then, just picking the rider does not guarantee a kill by ANY means, it is more likely to be a temporary disabler for the rider of the giga. This is not good gameplay when a tactic is developed in a game that renders all other tactics useless.
"Tamed gigas are very nerfed compared to wild gigas." This is not relevant, and I hope you agree. Just because something is stronger than another doesn't mean the lesser strength is not strong in comparison to the majority of other strength holders. Gigas are the strongest melee attackers in combination with their health and ability to have armor from saddles. Wild gigas are much stronger, yes, but tamed gigas are still the strongest melee fighter in PvP. Wild gigas aren't controlled by players with intelligence and context analysis and aren't used in PvP except for rare circumstances, and even then players can take advantage of the AI. Especially when you can have them in your pocket.
I'm assuming you don't have experience with PvP. A flying creature doesn't beat a non-flying creature when it's a giga. A fire wyvern's flame is basically a like 2x longer than its bite. You will get bit by the giga. A lightning wyvern can more successfully pull this off. The issue here is that what do you do when the person on the giga has a 350 fab sniper rifle and your wyvern can't wear a saddle for armor? A rational actor runs. They win the fight without trying.
Also, another issue is that your wyvern gets stuck when you attempt to flame them or lightning them when a giga spawns right in front of you and your turn radius is so bad that there is no way to avoid going head-first in to the strongest + largest melee dino in the game with a dino that has to take about 5 seconds to turn around.
Cryo sickness is irrelevant and I fail to see why you believe that it is. In a situation where someone throws a giga down in front of someone's wyvern, the wyvern gest stuck and can't turn in time, gets chomped and dies or are so low they can't reasonably continue the fight and their friends are turned away with fab snipers. Nowhere in here does cryo sickness put the giga-users at a disadvantage.
The risk a player faces when putting out a giga COMPARED to the risk some takes to fight the giga is almost always in favor of the giga user.
Main ark website suggestion board would be my recommendation
2. You're 2 dimensional in your thinking concerning someone's giga vs your wyvern or any other tame. Last I remember gigas dont fly as one example. There are tons more if you have a better knowledge base of playing ark.
3. You're mainly just ax grinding that you got pvp'd more than any actual flaw of the game. Learn to adapt your game play better and you wont have this as an issue.
4. Your wants do not match the reality of the way the game is playing. You either have to chose to change, shelve the game until it matches your delicate sensibilities, or shelve the game indefinitely. Devs are not going to accommodate your wants in this case. Sorry.
"Last I remember gigas dont fly as one example" Don't respond with snark if you don't read what I posted. I already addressed this.
I am not saying that I won't change my gameplay, and changing my gameplay to fit the meta does not mean I can't discuss why I believe the current meta is bad gameplay. You are not discussing any of the points I have made and are handwaving it with me getting "pvp'd" and that I have "little merit" which leads me to believe you are either too lazy to put together a real counter argument or too lazy to read my post. Put more effort in to your reply instead of making assumptions.
I've laid out a pretty good argument for why this meta is bad gameplay, and telling me to shelve the game until it changes or leave indefinitely is the highest level of elitist gatekeeping I think I've seen in a while. This attitude is wrong because it does not tell me why I am wrong in my argument. You are basically saying "this is how it is, if you want things to change, they won't, so go away", which with this attitude, nothing is achieved.
As for devs responding, this is more to raise awareness to the community and discuss the issue, I am more than aware that the devs are inactive on these forums.
Giga's not being able to fly I didnt think was considered snarky.... Just used as an example to get you to think from outside of your limited scope of seeing the problem from your perspective.
There is no elitism in stating that your wants arent going to be accommodated without adapting to change and citing said change options. Those are literally your options since all else is just circular ax grinding with limited suggestions.
And I am pretty confident after seeing these sorts of circular ax grinds for years the evidence is more compelling that it will end up being 1 of the 3 choices I mentioned.... one way or the other.
I never said for you to go away. I simply stated the options to facilitate better avoidance of continuing on this path of cognitive dissonance you seemingly are on. I recognize that you think you're partaking in activism for something you think is unfair but again this is due to your not learning to adapt your play choices to make this a non issue.
Devs intend the cryopods to be used as they are and your complaints are limited primarily to -your- feelings of unfairness in pvp without consideration or knowledge of how others pvp/make this a non issue nor pve considerations nor pvpve server considerations. A bit inane really.
Look we get it. You're ranting and want change. I predict change will happen but just probably not from the direction you currently wish it to be.
The whole primise of using the giga that way is to trap, remove that mechanic and the pocket giga strategy dies.
Not to mention the enrage mechanic. Smack it hard enough fast enough it's gonna eat its own rider xD I don't even know how many times I enraged my giga because of being reckless lol
You continue to assume that I'm not willing to change my play style even though I clearly stated otherwise and have used pocket gigas many times. Not sure why you're even posting if you're just here to say "Change will happen just not how you want it to or when you want it to". I can partake in doing something while also thinking it's unfair. Nothing you've said so far is relevant to the issue I have brought up other than accomodating players in other gamemodes.
I agree that my suggestions would hurt those in PvE, this would have been a GREAT thing to bring up in your first post instead of making assumptions and shrugging your shoulders! I would simply say that they could make it a server-based setting, so server owners decide on whether these debuffs take effect and for how long. Is this getting too specific for the devs to really care about? Sure! But I don't see any purpose in not pointing out an issue I have with a game.
Its an issue born of your play choices. Not of an inherent flaw in the game.
Its annoying that dinos glitch through walls and each other, but this has been present since the beginning. It's probably not something they can actually fix.
