The question is are they real but-not really since they are digtial game code-eggs? Or is this like the case of that one guy who ordered an xbox for his kid and was shipped a picture of an xbox.

As illigal as it may be, it would be pretty funny is someone bought an egg and the seller logged on to their server and the 'egg' was just a screenshot on a painting.

On a side note, what's the punishment for this? A ban or real life consequences?

Have you all seen the player auction sites? You can buy literally any item in ARK for IRL money. BPs, eggs, dinos, items, you name it. It's not just eBay.

But yes, in theory, it's against the TOS.

It's only illegal because they don't make money out of it. The day they create a "grand exchange" where sales will be taxed then it will be fine.

Or when they realise a pay to win format is much more profitable for the company in detriment to salty people who can't afford the items.

Pretty much every online game has or has had some form of monatary sales from third party people. I dont see why Ark would be different. If someone is dumb enough to pay money to not play a game they paid to be able to play, then thats their problem.

Legally though it violates copyrights since a third party is profiting from someone elses property but its never stopped the gold sellers, power leveling, gear grinding, ect.
