RIP to the Quetzal?
With the increased carry capacity of the argies it makes the Quetzal join the ranks of the now unused and irrelevant dinos in the game? It was already moving there after the changes to flyers but I think this is the nail in the coffin unless the devs have future plans to imporve the once might Quetz.

Argies don't have platforms.

Last time I checked there was no saddle platforms for argies. I am sure they will rework the quetzal as well as they go through more tlc upgrades on dinos.

quetzals can carry much bigger dinos and a mobile base so they are still usefull.

Quetzal where used as mining bases but the devs just wanted them as mobile bases, not used for mining metal

So they gave that role to the Argies.

Both now have useful roles, instead of the Quetzals being the only real way to mine lots of metal

How are Argies mining animals? You can put a forge on a quetzal, not on an Argie. You can carry a ton more weight on a Quetzal than an argie (high level, max all levels to weight).

You can get to and back from the mining area a lot faster then a quetz for small mining runs now that the Argies can carry more metal. Sure for massive runs, Quetz still win

A small pack of argents with two or three leveled for stam/weight, can still fight dinos and with forges onsite, is a way better deal for me than the Quetzal.

Playing SP its just far easier to tame a 8-12 argents.

I guess if you are on a map with no Wyverns there could still be a case for the Quetz, but Wyverns are faster and good for large dino pickup....

Argies can't carry a lot of things the Quetz can.. stegos for example..

Argent can't carry an Anky, which not only farms much more metal per node than you could by hand and loading it onto an Argent, but also has 70% weight reduction on metal compared to the Argent's 50% which combined with the much higher base weight of a Quetzal and possibility for platform saddle I don't think the new Argent still even comes close to comparing with the Quetzal in terms of both amount of metal to that can be gathered and the amount that it can carry. You're overreacting A LOT.

Edit: And agreed with Skadi that Karkinos > all :P

Forget about birds, the Karkinos is the tame of the future.

argy is the mid tier quetzal
lots of mid lvl tribes and solo players will use argys a lot until they get a quetzal

Quetz are still useful.. we use our weight quetz with storage boxes to haul a theri out for rare flowers or rare musrooms, stock up on them in one big haul. Or organic poly runs with moschops housed in special metal pen for killing mantis. Haul back mass amounts of organic poly at a time. Or to the tree for sap, we teleport and regularly pull sap from the taps into storage boxes, then use the quetzal to haul it all back to base in one go.

I guess it depends on your playstyle, but I like to stock up in big rounds so I don't have to go get the same things regularly. The quetzal will always do that better than the argy.
