1. The compressed download file. Steam has a good compression.
2. The decrompressed installation file. Plus DLCmaps and Mods.
3. You need some space left for patches. Same process here, compressed file gets downloaded, decompressed and installed.
My ARK-folder is around 120 gig with all DLC-Maps and a few quality of life mods. You can go above that easily if you download bigger mods or modmaps.
Sorry mate, your 40gig free discspace are not nearly enough for the basegame.
Extra problem: Now that I had to disable window sign test mode, my USB headset Fantech hg9 is now blocked by Windows again, due to having an unsigned driver named UAExt.sys, any clue?
Also my main problem is the internet, it is very unstable at the moment, only for Steam.
The installation file got deleted after install.
Try another download region in your steam options, that might help.
I never had a headset that really NEEDED a driver. I dont know your model, but i suppose its like all other headsets out there, and the so called "driver" is just extra software to adjust lighting and stuff but not needed for the basic functions. I would try to 1. get a signed version or 2. try completely without driver.
-headset model is "Fantech HG9" which requires its software or else the speaker is deafening.
-i did mention these once in the replies
Have you tried to adjust your volume settings in Windows?
Thank you for your attention and suggestion. (I hope the unfixed internet download is a problem Steam should fix by itself) .
