Steam alternately stops and starts ARK download
My friends invited me to play in Abberation map, so I have to download the entire game since i uninstalled it.

Problems: -the download speed are only around 3-4 MB/s while top speed is 15 MB/s
-the download speed alternately drops to zero and back to normal, disk usage
normally take 10+ MB/s
-when i completed the download, about 24.4 GB plus mods, steam said I don't have
enough disk space, but there's more than 40 GB of space left (DID NOT install on the
same drive as Windows)

Specs: CPU - Intel Core i3-2120 @ 3.3 GHz
GPU - Nvidia Gefore GT 730
RAM - 6 MB (4 MB + 2 MB)
HDD - maximum of 270 GB (45 GB left included ARK without mods, 100+GB in
downloading folder inside steam folder)
Internet - LAN ADSL 100 Mb (Megabits)

Notes: -The computer is about 5 years old
-I've played ARK since 2 years ago, haven't faced these problems before
-Tried restart computer, restart router, change download region, reinstalling the game,
didn't work

You need space on your HDD for:

1. The compressed download file. Steam has a good compression.

2. The decrompressed installation file. Plus DLCmaps and Mods.

3. You need some space left for patches. Same process here, compressed file gets downloaded, decompressed and installed.

My ARK-folder is around 120 gig with all DLC-Maps and a few quality of life mods. You can go above that easily if you download bigger mods or modmaps.

Sorry mate, your 40gig free discspace are not nearly enough for the basegame.

I don't know why, when the download finished, the free disk space increases to 85.5 GB and now i'm downloading Aberration (the game started normally though).

Extra problem: Now that I had to disable window sign test mode, my USB headset Fantech hg9 is now blocked by Windows again, due to having an unsigned driver named UAExt.sys, any clue?

Also my main problem is the internet, it is very unstable at the moment, only for Steam.

The installation file got deleted after install.

Try another download region in your steam options, that might help.

I never had a headset that really NEEDED a driver. I dont know your model, but i suppose its like all other headsets out there, and the so called "driver" is just extra software to adjust lighting and stuff but not needed for the basic functions. I would try to 1. get a signed version or 2. try completely without driver.

-tried change region, didn't work well
-headset model is "Fantech HG9" which requires its software or else the speaker is deafening.
-i did mention these once in the replies

I still dont know what a Fantech HG 9 is nor do i know how it works. I meant that when i said i dont know your model. All the headsets i ever had worked just fine without driver or other software.

Have you tried to adjust your volume settings in Windows?

Okay, I downloaded EqualizerAPO to fix the sounds, seems working fine.

Thank you for your attention and suggestion. (I hope the unfixed internet download is a problem Steam should fix by itself) .
