How do you fill a Water Reservoir manually?

I have a water skin and a jug but cant figure out how to transfer it into the reservoir. Also, if I was going to run piping all the way to a water source, is there a limit to that distance?

put them in the reservoir, click the drink button on it. And t here isnt a length limit but there is a height limit to water pipes.

as for the distance, I havent found it yet. I was playing the Island and I was on the mountain top(the one with all the rich metal and crystals) just off of the green ob and I ran stone pipes from the top all the way south, southeast to the river and had no problems.

so press "E" when it's in the reservoir? When I do that I drink the water. It doesn't transfer.

how does it indicate the water transfers? It's really strange because i'm in a cave and it rains and fills up my water, but doesn't fill the reservoir.

put the skin/jar/canteen into the reservoir inventory, then hit "E" it will empty the water into the reserviour.

Also the thing with the caves. it will not fill up if you are in a cave that gives you the "indoors" icon.

I dont know if this is for all maps, but in Aberration, there is no rain, so the reserviours fill up slowly over time(large crop plots too) I dont know if thats just Aberration tho.

you can't empty water skins into a resevoir that way, at least if it's made of stone, I can't be sure for a metal resevoir. It does work like that for crop plots and stuff but for a resevoir you'll need to connect it to pipes or have them in the rain or if on abbreation they'll very slowly fill over time from the atmosphere, the cave is probably some sort of conflict between being inside and outside
