There’s hardly a single soul on a Prim+ server with stable ping. So if you can have fun by yourself or with at least one other person, Prim Plus.

But if you enjoy the freedom of raids and pvp, & not to mention an actual tribe, vanilla.

Vanilla is still more fun solo than Prim + though.

I am thinking of starting playing ARK again with a friend. Used to play it a couple of months ago for a short period of time. What would you recommend, modded or vanilla, and if so any in mind?

I’d recommend you start vanilla and see how far it can take you. Play through the base game. Once you get close to max level (which could either take a long time or no time at all), then try modded. I can’t recommend any mods because I haven’t played with them yet.

If you did, you wouldn't be asking questions.

I host a PvE cluster of 8 servers: TheIsland, SE, Aberration, The Center, Ragnarok, The Volcano, Shigo Islands, and Crystal Isles maps and a few mods that enhance the PvE experience. Since clustered it does take a bit to d/l and install the maps the first time you join, but after that is pretty much like joining any other server, but you have a HUGE world to explore, many maps to have outposts on, is truly a unique experience with a cluster that big making an immense world !

PS: If interested, add me to friends and I'll send you the server ip info so you can join :) We typically have somewhere from 10-30 players online almost all day/night
