Is there some trick to taming dolphins?
I tried swimming after one but as expected it just kept swimming away after I fed it once, until it ended up in a Megalodon's mouth. After that I decided to trap it near shore with dino gates, but it mysteriously beached itself and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DIED.

What am I supposed to do?

Don't chase them. Passive tames can get scared and run off. Give passive tames a bite and then move away from it while still keeping an eye them. Then come back and give another bite.

I've found a few natural rock formations in the shallow water, where the rocks form sort of a "U" with the open end facing the shore. I'll have a Baryonyx with me, usually. I'll find a nearby Ichthyosaur, get its attention, and lead it into the "U", then swim around so that the Ichthyo is between me and the rocks. THEN I give it the initial feeding.

When it tries to swim away, the rocks block it from getting to the deep ocean, and I follow closely (with my Bary set to follow me) and box it in, right up against the rocks. Surrounded by myself, the Bary, and the rocks, the Ichthyo can't even move. Then I just keep feeding it until tamed.

This method has the advantage that not only can't the Ichthyo get away, it also can't swim to the shore and beach itself.

There's always a possibility that the Ichthyo could wriggle past myself and the Bary, but I can usually manage to swim around and force it back against the rocks again.

Hope this helps.

there are a loot of dolphins stuck on the natural stones you only need to wait for theupdate in the server or a new big new spawn to trap them without swimg in the north zone (the island map)

you can also use points on speed and a tank to swimg fast, now is more easy bc you can make a loot of mindwipe without problems

or you can use a raft trap, work with sharks too

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to tame those? They are pretty worthless. Tame you a small fleet of megladons and rule the ocean.

Scouting and transporting raid items to different parts of the map or underwater storages. The sky is too contested.

Why don't you use a meg for that though? Dolphins cannot fight well, they do nothave many HPs and are not much faster than any other aquatic. I am not questioning an aquatic mount just the choice of which aquatic mount. Megs are better fighters, can hold their own against other megs and after you put some points into their speed, they are pretty fast. I dunno...gues it just comes down to personal choice. Good luck with the dolphins.
