If you refuse to grab a few explorer notes and level up quicker, then just stay in the tropics until eventually you get high enough level to venture out of your safe zone.
I can think of only 2 reasons on island to go to the snow-biome: either farm Keiruku for organic polymer (which you also can get from hesperionis) or taming a yutyrannus. And for the latter, you should at least have level 70...
And Kairuku also spawn on the east coast afaik. (if you venture north enough until you meet the edge of the snow.)
The third is, to farm the cave for loot and the artifact. But that's REALY advanced gameplay, since this is infested with onyx. (Giant bats) that will debuff you with a dot.
But: a VERY fast way to level up, is just making rafts. make one and drop ti, make the next. When you have an explorer-note-buff, it's even faster. Rafts count as creatures, so you can't just destroy it to get a part of the ressources back. But the ressources are relative easy to get in the first place.
If you venture out on your raft, make a bed and place it there. Also make a storage of some kind. And DON'T travel into the open sea. You're relative save on your raft, except for the leedsichty. These are giant wales... REALY giant, and will one-hit and destroy you including your raft. They are in more deep water. So if you stay near the coast, you should be safe.
As long as you don't have metal tools, I would safe it, though. At least wait until level 36, when you'll get your first flyer-saddle. Then get a pteranodon and farm some drops. Beware, of predators, that might venture around drops, though. especially raptors and terror-birds, as they're very fast and can kill you realy quick. And always watch the stamina of your flyer.
With a little luck, you even don't need to make the complete set of fur, since you also can find them in drops. (I don't know at what colour they first apear, though, the wiki doesn't mention them. Though, I'm sure, I've found some of them,)
With level 36, you're able to farm all, except yellow and red (they're availalbe at 45 and 60 respectivly.)
Yes, the fur armor is one of the things able to be unlocked pretty early, but quite difficult to get the loads of pelt for.
As for going out of your way to level up, there's zero reason to ever do this. Since you level up by default anyway pretty quickly. And you can always just wait till higher level to get stuff. The whole entire point was just geared specifically for lower level when the fur armor is available. So either pelt is readily available for it at the level you can unlock it. Or it's better to just hold off on trying to get pelt until later game. Seems like a resource that's just not worth going for at earlier levels. OK fine, there's never need to try to level up when there's tons of other things that can be done in the meantime.
