Cant find Tropeognathus
I have been searching for tropeos and I have a hard time finding a good level to breed with. I find 1 - 2 a hour and it feels like a giant waste of time. I check the red forest, swamp area right bottem of the map and crystle shores south west of the map.

How long did it take? yesterday I found a 148 female (159 is max on the cluster I play). Today I searched all day aswell and I couldt find a singe one that was any good. Also at what heigt do you look for them? High up like quetz or close to the ground?

There aren't all that many around to be honest, and they're found on the ground up to a medium altitide. There seems to be a bug(?) where it is around 20 minutes between feeds, too. I ended up abandoning one that looked like it was going to take hours to feed - assuming the bug meant I could even complete the tame at all.

I had to settle for lvls 50-ish that only needed one or two feeds to tame and I'm breeding them up. It beats flying around for 30 minutes to an hour, finding one and then wondering if I can tame the damn thing and, if it turns out I can, do I have enough chain bolas! I went out on a quetz with around 80 bolas and it just wouldn't be enough in all likelihood. Even if you trap them, you still have to chain bola them to feed them. :(

The trick is to trap them, bola, damage with hatchet to a small fraction of health. Wait a few minutes after bola wears off, check it and see it food drop rapidly. Then bola again and feed, preferred kibble method as it is less feeds. Usually only need to use 2 or 3 bolas. Traps vary, I use 8 pillars stacked 2 high placed close and on all four sides, then 4 to 5 ceilings placed on top of the pillars. This method ground does not have to be flat. So bola, then place pillars and ceilings then damage it. You can also tractor beam with Skiff and place in a trap.

I have found them around the Volcano red charcoal tree area and the tropical area. I think max someone said was 120 meters high.
Thanks for the tips! Seems like they are rare spawns so spotting 2 per hour is sadly not weird :(

They can be walking on the ground between the trees, flying mid air hight like ptera or argy or they can also be up high at quetzal hight, I've seen it all.
I found my breeding pair at the south-west tropical beach area.
Also, kill every low level so new ones can spawn.

Ah, right - bola for the first time then damage them... I'll try that, thanks, but it seems an odd way of doing it if it's intentionally implemented that way. I manage fine with 3 or 4 gates on top of them, at different angles. Quick to put down and it leaves gaps to bola them.

I waited over 49 minuts for one to get hungry. Then I damaged it while in bola, let it heal, bola. Leave render distance and come back while it is in bola. Bola again, fed all the kibble in one go because its food dropped by 3k when I left render distance. They are supper buggy but the method really works

You don't have to leave render distance, trap them, bola them and then damage them (I damage them to half health), the moment the bola breaks they start to consume food for health regen, you can stand right next to it and watch it's food stat. I bola them again at about half health and then start taming.
