Reduced ARK Size
Please, Tell me that Devs are atleast planning on reducing ARK Files Size, There are obviously trash stuff that are not being deleted over time in updates! Some time ago i got a +30 GB Update when Crystal Isles were Released, The hell? This game is so unoptimized that only updates can fix it because if u delete something manually everything falls apart and has to download tons of stuff over and over again :JurassicWorldEvolution:

Why bother? The days of dial-up and 80Gb hard drives are lost in the mists of time, the same as the dinosaurs.

Wasn't that because all the stuff is not compressed, so the performance on weaker PCs is better? De-compressing on the fly costs performance.

I believe in the past there were comments that the devs were thinking of making like an optional "DLC" oder beta-branch were the installed files would be compressed for people who wanted it. But afaik it never happened.

Perhaps you should try dark and light or Atlas. Both those ark clones are smaller and of course not recieving much development keep the file size down.

Many people are still on slower internet connections, and having multiple 100gb games chews through HD space very quickly.

Welcome to 2020.

If you're on Win 10 you can use Compact, it allows you to compress games/programs with no performance it. My install was compressed from 256GB to 113GB and the game runs fine.

Open source GUI: https://github.com/ImminentFate/CompactGUI/

I got this game for my mac, and I can't even play it cause it's too large.

Even by today's standards this game takes up way entirely to much hard drive space mates. lol:steamhappy:

yea no.. by todays standards 200+ gb for a game of this size is fairly normal.. the only people who complain about the size are those who are too cheap to buy a larger storage drive. your 500gb HDD from 10 years ago is not gonna be useful forever..

Yeah, no, this is a load of bull****. ARK uses way too much storage compared to any other modern game. It's a notoriously unoptimised game and every complaint about it is justified. The solution to running a woefully unoptimised game should not be to buy a bigger drive. I never run out of disk space, except when I want to install ARK xD

The only suggestion I can give, OP, is watch what you let ARK install. Unused mods and dlc/maps packs can take up looaaaaaads of space.

You are completely wrong. Ark doesn't have that much content, most of the size comes from duplicated content because the devs chose to disable the UE4 compression system. I really dunno wtf they had in mind since it not only boosts performance for anyone who doesn't own a ssd but it also saves a LOT of space.

And yes it's possible to add mods even with it enabled. Devs are likely retarded or lazy af.

You think because the game is large it's unoptimised lol.. those 2 things are not even related. Get with the times mate. Get a bigger drive or play smaller Games 😂. Ark is but a tiny spec on my 2tb of SSD storage.

Ok mr game development officer.
Charcharodonto Jun 30, 2020 @ 3:50am
meanwhile Red dead 2 is 150 GB and the newest cod is 175 GB+

New games surpassed 100 Gb a while ago and are now approaching 200GB. better get with the times

Lmao

You can check that by yourself, do the tests, check for duplicated files, do some research.

If you choose to only believe in your opinion that is based on nothing, go head, you won't go far in life that way.
