Ragnarok is more fun and got more dino types then the Island, but it does not have the Tek cave if you want to do end game stuff.

I prefer unoffical servers in a cluster, so you can swap between maps when ever you want. You get the best of all five maps that way

In my opinion island is a better option

Thank you Natjur, i thought of an unofficial servers but I want a high populated server that is vanilla, monthly wipe and no admin abuse, and its kinda hard to find all of that, and i will gladly take your suggestion.

Ragnarok is more of a casuals map. My reasoning is that most things are a lot easier to do. Examples are metal is EVERYWHERE. You just have to look around. Some of the 'bad' spawns don't exist (no running into a Theri every twenty steps on the beach). Mutton is HIGHLY accessible allowing for very quick and easy carnivore taming. You have access to almost every creature. Griffin's are PvE easy mode and are super strong in PvP as well.

The Island takes more grinding to get things done. Metal is farther away most of the time, mutton can be difficult to obtain, many creatures (Griffin, Wyvern, SE creatures) aren't available. BUT has better caves (for PvE purposes, not base building) and Tek Cave for ascension as well as access to all the bosses for tek Engrams

So if end game is important to you, the island 100%, unless you are modding to allow extra playability.

Really it all comes down to your preferred playstyle and use of mods. Just remember, more mods = more chances of ♥♥♥♥ breaking.
