Getting Rock Drake Eggs Couldn't be More Infuriating

Every "how-to-rock-drake" video I've thus far seen has either involved God Mode or using a Rock Drake itself, so they are pointless for those of us who want to go about it in a legit manner.

Before anyone jumps on me calling me a gaming whiner, look: There's a difference between "Challenging" and "Pointlessly Infuriating." I know you're going to commence with the name-calling, so just get it all out of your system, or ignore this and go on about your day.

I enjoy "a challenge." The wyvern trench on SE? Awesome - once you learn how to get in and out, and it becomes easy, but that first time through? Really rough - a nice challenge. This effing nonsense down in the drake trench, though, is just insane.

Mounts take radiation damage, so ok, no mount to tank for me, fine. I'll try sneaking around. Can't use a ghille suit, because of the radiation, and even sneaking around means Nameless are gd everywhere, making any forward progress a pain in the ass.

I thought I'd get clever and build an elevator down. Over 400 elevator tracks and literally all day later, I hit a point where I cannot place anything anymore. JFC. Fine. Went down to the bottom and tried to find a place to build there - NOPE. Can't place structures on the bottom (at least nowhere I've thus far found.)

I get it - Rock Drakes are amazing and they should be difficult to get, but this? FFS. So I suppose next I'll try a network of ziplines, which unto themselves are maddening because half the time even though the line is green when I place the second anchor point, they vanish.

I want to love this DLC, but it's really making that hard.

I'll just brace for the incoming sodomy now, but I had to vent here where some of you probably share my pain.

Here is a way to get down there by foot. I suggest you take some Spinos.

Ive had ark since the day it released and on vanilla settings its never been anything other than a rediclous waste of time. I wont play without 10x taming because I want it to be a game and not a job.

People are going and getting drake eggs long before they should be able to. The goal is to work your way up with dinos until you are strong enough as a group to go down there and fight things off until you can get an egg and make it back out. Right now people are kind of cheating the system by diving in and praying to make it back out so they an skip ahead and get drakes. If this is not how you want to play then that is fine. Be patient and build up. This map is not deisgned for solo so if that is what you are playing then adjust your rates. I love how difficult they have made this map to get to the bottom and back out again.

I actually feel the map is very good for solo or small tribes, so many good spots to hide, in safety while you build up, And i got my first drake egg with Carno's killed the drakes, looted the egg and rode a carno back out of the pit ( yes there is a path all the way out)

Eggs spawn in different spots at different times. Just cause he got lucky doesn't mean that egg spawns very often.

I saw some Rock Drake eggs near that giganotosaurus sleketon or whatever that is, down in the purle goo area.
Not far away from that, there is Rock Drake Eggs already.
So one just needs to fly down there and somehow.... *sigh* get out.
I mean after you have killed all Rock Drakes in that area beforehand, it would make it easier to get out.

Rad suites, a charge light and high lvl karkinos. The only thing to watch out for is seekers or alpha reapers.

I highly recommend using a karkinos, they barely take fall damage and don't take radiation. Light pets are also immune to radiation so you'll be fine with a high level karkinos. Just jump to the nest, grab the egg and get back on the karkinos.

The way I did it was with a Megalosaurus, because they don't need sleep on Abberation so they are constantly super predators that are super easy to tame. He munched through the hordes of drakes each time they came in easily, although now he's sadly lost somewhere down there. But his sacrifice resulted in twin level 148 rock drakes, so it seems pretty worth it.

Edit: Also, for climbing, try climbing to the highest nest and then use a glider to make your way down. Saves some of that terrible ice pick durability.

There is a new soup 'mushroom stew' that gives radiation immunity to dinos. Workes great.
