6.) The climbing hooks wear down very fast so don't expect them to get you out of a deep hole. I literally started to carry 5 sets of them because they broke soo much!!!
7.) The Nameless will never stop spawning unless you have a charge light! Luckily they only spawn in the giant cavern and lower. (Also on the surface but that's a different story entirely with its own threats)
You cannot build in the portal area, so you need to move on from there. Gather enough to get your bulbdog (it likes the aqua mushrooms) and tame one off to the side where the raptors and the basilisks aren't roaming about.
Don't wander around at night without a light. Really. If not for non-glowy predators, there are patches of red mushrooms with little white spots on them. Walk through a patch of those and you be trippin', man. Suffocating and get the squits too.
If you haven't seen the dino, don't get the saddle engram. It still allows a bunch of the Island dino saddles to be learned even though those dinos dont spawn on Aberration. I'm sure this is for populations travelling cross-ark.
There is no rain, just quakes that drop some resources from above. The lack of rain makes having a base high up or away from water a questionable decision (esp if you want to grow crops). Do you want to make and lay a bazillion pipes? If not, settle next to or a reasonable distance from water.

- Put some points on stamina
- Put some points on weight
at least until lvl 40
