Can't join friend's Epic Games non dedicated server
Can't join friend's Epic Games non dedicated server Every time he or me tries to join it says "connection timeout". We both got the game from Epic and we can't join each other's non dedicated servers. Am I dumb or has this been a long lasting problem?

You would need to ask epic.

As it stands non-dedicated steam/epic... is not a thing either.

I wouldnt say its been a long lasting problem.... it been less then 2 weeks.

You will probably need to enable Crossplay. There is an argument you need to add into the Command line: -crossplay

My full command line for my server on ArkServers.io is as follows:

CrystalIsles?listen?MaxPlayers=60?Port=7500?QueryPort=7510?RCONPort=7520?RCONEnabled=True?MultiHome=149.56.113.232?AllowAnyoneBabyImprintCuddle=true?AllowFlyingStaminaRecovery=true?AllowMultipleAttachedC4=true?CrossARKAllowForeignDinoDownloads=true?ForceFlyerExplosives=true?OverrideStructurePlatformPrevention=true?PreventDiseases=true?PreventOfflinePvP=true?TribeLogDestroyedEnemyStructures=true?PreventOfflinePvPInterval=200?OverrideOfficialDifficulty=10?OxygenSwimSpeedStatMultiplier=3 -server -automanagedmods -log -EnableIdlePlayerKick -crossplay -ForceAllowCaveFlyers -noundermeshchecking -NoBattlEye

So no way of playing with friends using non dedicated servers. Aight time to uninstall this ♥♥♥♥ game.

If you guys just need a crossplay enabled server, you can play on my Crystal Isles dedicated server. At the moment, it's just me and a guy from work. Way too much unused bandwidth.

https://server-qyffsugh.arkers.io/ - This is the join link to my server for Steam users. If you are interested, Epic Games players will need to manually find the server name "Quarantine #42: 20,000 AC (After Covid)" from the "Unofficial" server list.

Give the server list a few minutes to fully render.

Notes: Stacks are x500 in size. Carry weight per level point is x5 (50 weight per level), resource harvesting is x25, tame speed is about x25, and I've manually implemented a new Experience system to the server.

Max Player level: 250
Max Dino levels (after tame): +250
Max Wild Dino level: 300

What? My friend and I just want to play with each other on non dedicated servers using the Epic Games Ark. I have to do all that just to play?
Professor Dorky Jun 21, 2020 @ 3:33pm
No. You just need to put in "-crossplay" near where this information is. There are resources out there for adding this to a non-dedicated server. I would try YouTube and search something like "Enable Crossplay Ark Non-dedicated". I will assist you and post a link here if I find a good one for you.

Not 100% sure where this is from manual config. I use ArkServers.io. Will lyk if I find.

Also trust me, this is a game you don't want to uninstall. Once Epic releases Mod Support, this game will take you and your friend's breaths away.

First find is for private host Dedicated Server w/ Crossplay between Xbox & PC: https://youtu.be/6WlauTBSa90

There is no commandline for non-dedicated.... so nowhere to add the line.

The op could just run a dedicated server for 2 pple.... but i somehow dont think they have the patience to figure one out.

@Darth Yorkie
I appreciate your help. Question, what does crossplay have to do with 2 people using the Epic Games version?

The other config line is -EpicOnly ... but again... these are for Dedicated servers ... not non-dedi

I'm getting confused. I just want to play with my friend on a non dedicated or any sort of private server. We are both on PC, using the Epic Games Ark.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Crossplay also refers to Steam/Epic games crossplay. What Vesuvius said might be true; there may be no command line for non-dedicated. After looking at about 10+ videos, it seems the only answer for a NON-DEDICATED SERVER is to perform some port forwarding. It's a slightly grotesque process.

It would probably be in your best interest to:
1) Wait for Epic Games to get their S*** together.
2) Join an unofficial dedicated server that your friend is able to find from the Server List.

Tbh. I highly doubt Epic will do anything considering how much time has gone by so far.

I can tell you for a fact ... there are already a reasonable number of epic/steam unofficial crossplay servers. Both pve and pvp :)
