Ark Server Manager and ngrok as port forward tool?
I wanted to play with some friends on an ark server using ASM since non-dedicated server are laggy as hell for the host. My Problem is that we got a router which doesn´t allow us to port forward which is obviously needed for my friends to connect.
For a Minecraft Server with friends i used a program called "ngrok". You just enter the port you want to port forward and then you get a new IP like for example "0.tcp.eu.ngrok.io:17017" that my friends can connect to to join my server. You just enter this IP in the server list to join.

My question: Can you use this kind of program as a port forwarding tool to let friends join on my server? Does someone have experience with things like that? Which port do i have to type in there since i can only type in one? Should i try a different program?

I don't know about ngrok, but the difference between MC and ARK is that MC only uses a single Port, while ARK needs at least 2 (or 3 with query port).
If your server port is set to default 7788 for example, ARK will also use 7789.

For an alternative, any VPN program should do the trick.

A friendly advice:
Do NOT host your server on the same machine you are playing on. ARK will eat your systems resources like a rex a bunch of dodos!

Only if you used the, not available anymore, Raw Socket Option.
Else it just uses Server-/Query-Port on UDP.
And if need/used the RCON Port on TCP.

But that also yield's the Answer to OP's Question cause afaik ngrok doesn't support UDP tunneling. So that's a hard NO to usage with ARK.

edit: okay just realized how old that thread is, but well if someone else has the same idea he might find it :-)

Yeah, relized it only after I already posted...

But when did that RawSocket-thing happen? My server still asks for serverPort, rconPort and queryPort with a tiptool that it also reserves serverPort+1

I'm not sure which config you're running, basic needs are Server + Queryport on UDP. Anything else is optional.

v311.78 - 06/11/2020

Disabled bRawSockets as they no longer function with the new game networking code

Guess I can delete those comments from my server-configs, which remind me to leave the next port free, then...
I know it is late :p but did you manage to make it work with ngrok or with another program?

holy necro batman

pretty old yea, but no, I didn't get it to work with ngrok. There are simply too many ports to forward so I just took the first server provider that crossed my way.
I guess there is no way to forward enough ports without a router that supports port forwarding.
