Epic Games not able to join friend on Non-dedicated session...

Ark is free on epic games and my friend and I wanted to play together but we tried everything accept the port forwarding. I don't want to do the port stuff. Is there any other way yet for us to be able to join each other? Please Help...

You can only play with epic/steam on dedicated.

Port forwarding won't help, you can't play a hosted session together, it needs to be a dedicated server. PS. If you had read the damn patch notes you'd know this already.

1) Open Ark and load a single player world

2) press Tab (You will see a bar at bottom you can type in it)

3) type>> open "put IP address here and then Port:# hit enter (This will backdoor you into a steam server(edited)

me and my friends both have the epic game version... if we do the thing mentioned above ^^ with single player i'll be able to play with my friends in a non dedicated server? Also im not opposed to doing port forwarding stuff as long as it works. Does anyone know if it'll work with the epic games version of ark to play with other friends with the same version. I've also tried starting it as a dedicated server but that closes my game and nothing happens?! Have the devs acknowledged that there's an issue? and are they going to leave it be or perhaps fix it?

Read the community crunches. Epic does not support mods.
How to do cross play between Epic/steam is also listed on the community crunch for the EGS release.

i done it with my daughter using this method but we are using the same router im not sure if it would work over the internet. i managed to join her game but i couldnt get her to join mine not sure if its just the age of her pc or w/e. lost/timedout connection to host.

Yes if:

1. dedicated server(not non dedicated)
2. Server has -crossplay enabled.
3. No modded content is being used.

Thank you for the info but he just told me that the MULTIPLAYER part has disappeared from his screen.
