Legendary OSDs
Im getting ready to do my second Legendary OSD on singleplayer. The first one I did, I stopped after 5 waves.

Im curious if anyone knows if number of waves completed affects what items you get, quality, quantity etc, and if they do, is there a cut-off on waves completed vs best items for number of waves done?

For example, would I get drastically better loot from a 20 wave drop over 10 waves, or is the increased difficulty not worth it?

Any info from anyone that has done testing on this would be great. The expac is so new that the wiki is lacking in any worthwhile info.

After 100 waves it auto stops. (cheated to test this)
We did not notice much different in loot from wave 5 to wave 20 stops.

We found it better to just stop at wave 6 or 7 (L500+ wyreens and repears and enraged tex started hurting) and get the loot and find another purple osd then keep going for many waves on one.

Well, that's a bit sad to hear. What's the point in having such a high wave mechanic if the loot doesn't get better....like come on WC...

Did you test wave 1 vs wave 10? I mean, is there even a reason besides maybe leveling dinos, to go past wave 1?

On a side note, I gotta ask what your setup is? I'm doing this solo on my private server and I tried yellow twice now. One went very poorly and the other I barely made it. I've been using velonos, enforcer, and mana (to run around and freeze stuff).

I found the only way to do this solo, is mated boosted, imprinted gigas but that is just me.

Im using an enforcer and tek rex on aggresive, and im riding on a giga.

Dang, I kind of wanted to use creatures indigenous/new to Extinction, but it seems like everyone is using gigas for these. At least the ones I've tamed in the past will get some use finally. I suppose I can get a little unique with dino leashes covered by metal foundations and have the gigas on aggressive in each of the lanes.

Thanks for the info guys!

Giga are indigenous to Extinction.
There are wild giga (non corrupted) on Extinction map near the snow area, just go there and tame one

Also all corrupted dinos can eat metal (and tek) walls

Yup! I just meant like the purely new creatures that came with this DLC. Also, I put a metal foundation in the wasteland and the corrupted did not like it lol. I'll still experiment with the leashes though, heck, maybe even putting one inside the drop itself if it allows that. Also tested a forcefield for the heck of it, it does block out the corrupted, but they damage that 25k health of the shield fairly quickly, rip.

Well, if you tame the ice titan, he does Legendary OSDs with easy :)
If you're on a pve server (so they can't damage drops) then titans do pretty well for it. I tamed a gamma ice titan and it consistently got me to wave 7 easily, the ice breath was super helpful since it stopped anything from hitting the drop and the titans attacks are pretty slow which would normally leave them with a lot of time to hit the drop even though I one-hit most of them.

Well looks like taming some titans has been moved up on the list of things to do lol.

I only have a beta forest titan. Too slow to react to defend anything of a large area

Alright, so I tamed some of those cave direwovles before they disabled that. I coupled 5 very high lvls direwolves, with 5 decent level velonos, and 2 decent level daeodons. They all had their exp levels and were all imprinted upon. The yellow drop only took like 3k dmg.... Daeodons ftw IMO.
