you aren't gonna be able to do purples solo without mods, unless you want to sink a ridiculous amount of time breeding a literal army of nonsense.
purples go on forever until you tell them to drop their loot, and i think i read somewhere it's only eligible to crack open purple crates after 10 waves. not sure how accurate that is as i've only done red and below.
titans are out of the equation for doing drops thanks to WC only giving a crap about PvP. previously they'd be a viable choice but not anymore.
So now that I've activated it, and it goes on forever, my base is basically in pernament danger, is what you're saying? (because wave dinos somehow always track you across the map)
you can hold e on the purple crate to cancel the event, but you might need to go until wave 10 to stop it, or just let the crate break
and yeah, i've heard a ton of stories about corrupt wyverns from wave spawning seemingly flying to 50,50 (the city) after crate events stop and causing all kinds of mayhem. your base might be in danger.
extinction is plagued with bad game design choices, bugs, and issues right now. i love element veins and all the new dinos but man, this really needed more work before getting released.
blue is easiest, yellow is moderate, red is hard, purple is "survival"
That same team can't even do red drops let alone purple. I've been breeding more Rex's for health and melee and then need to breed healpigs or something before I go back and try red again. Bred gigas may be able to hold up to a purple drop beyond wave 2 but there's a lot of incoming damage when the enemies are super tanky lvl 400+ corrupted dinos.
So many people hating on this map, I hate to jump on the bandwagon. But the more I play Extinction, the more I can't stand it. Just have a couple breeders left to get, and I'm getting my ass back to Rag.
i still never played ragnarok but i intend to very soon as i've heard many great things.
extinction isn't all bad, i really enjoy the city, the boss fights are great, all the new dinos (not tamed titans anymore since WC made them completely useless in pve) and element veins but that's the only good things i have to say about extinction.
i also hate this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "horde-mode" i only like element veins for how they look and of course they give a nice amount of element. im sure WC is going to cut the yield on them by 95% in next patch because omigerd pvp is the only gamemode that matters!!!!!
overall i dislike extinction and wc just makes it worse with their awful "balance" decisions that gimp pve/solo players like me. everytime i find something viable, wc comes and nerfs it to uselessness.
when the devkit finally comes out, i'm gonna breathe a huge sigh of relief.
I do feel like this map closes a lot of the missing gaps in the Ark experience. It's a little insane, but you can tame living garbage disposal resource engines that are way better than the industrial grinder, and have farmable sources of element and tek tier resources. Extinction is basically what you get when you take the previous boss fight experiences of Ark and make them into a map.
The only saving grace I had is that I forgot I had tamed a high level velonasaur, and he managed to drain their stamina down to force them to land, which allowed my bear army and carno absolutely annihalate them, and luckily only lost a parasaur I had from when I first started on the map, and minor base damage.. That's rediculous that they were even therer though.
I hate it when the "OG's" die. I always keep them in the middle of my base. A myriad of random dinos and random levels that were my victims of opportunity. Once I get up and running, every tame is expendable, except the ones that made it all possible.
