Soloing Supply Drops in Extinction?
Is anyone else noticing this is complete BS? I watched somebody on youtube do it in a giga, and the game only threw some dilophasaurs, 1 or 2 spinos, and a couple paracerums at him.

I don't have a giga yet, but I have a super high level, bred bear, with over 1k melee, and 18k health (max level is 300 on my server), and on the very first wave on a purple supply drop no less (!!!!!), I get absolutely bombarded with 5 level 430+ fire breathing wyveryns that I can't even hit, and spinos. And that's not a unique event. Every time I build up the nerve to go near one I get absolutely destroyed. The furthest I've made it is to wave 2, and then I have to sprint out of there using the bear's speed because I can't handle the absolute chaos the game unleases at me. And that's the reason I refuse to bring any more of my tames near one. I can use the speed of the bear to escape only if I'm riding it. If I brought any more tames in, I would lose them permanently.

Has anyone been able to do this solo?

You need a small army. Flyers and land dinos.

purple is the hardest crate and weren't even in the game until the most recent patch.

you aren't gonna be able to do purples solo without mods, unless you want to sink a ridiculous amount of time breeding a literal army of nonsense.

purples go on forever until you tell them to drop their loot, and i think i read somewhere it's only eligible to crack open purple crates after 10 waves. not sure how accurate that is as i've only done red and below.

titans are out of the equation for doing drops thanks to WC only giving a crap about PvP. previously they'd be a viable choice but not anymore.

That's a little deceiving then, seeing as purple was only the 3rd level drop from the island (if I'm remembering correctly), and red was the highest. How dumb is that, that they decide to mix it up all the sudden.

So now that I've activated it, and it goes on forever, my base is basically in pernament danger, is what you're saying? (because wave dinos somehow always track you across the map)

agreed, it is dumb, devs went full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ on extinction game design

you can hold e on the purple crate to cancel the event, but you might need to go until wave 10 to stop it, or just let the crate break

and yeah, i've heard a ton of stories about corrupt wyverns from wave spawning seemingly flying to 50,50 (the city) after crate events stop and causing all kinds of mayhem. your base might be in danger.

extinction is plagued with bad game design choices, bugs, and issues right now. i love element veins and all the new dinos but man, this really needed more work before getting released.

blue is easiest, yellow is moderate, red is hard, purple is "survival"

Purple no way you'd survive with that bear. You wouldn't survive yellow solo on that bear beyond maybe wave 2 if you were spamming meat. I use a pair of 38k health Rex's on ascended saddles around 90 armor each and they are able to take care of 80-90% of a yellow drops enemies in every wave on aggressive with about 10-15k health left when they're finished. I stand by the drop on a wyvern blasting flyers and small dinos that get past them.

That same team can't even do red drops let alone purple. I've been breeding more Rex's for health and melee and then need to breed healpigs or something before I go back and try red again. Bred gigas may be able to hold up to a purple drop beyond wave 2 but there's a lot of incoming damage when the enemies are super tanky lvl 400+ corrupted dinos.

lol and as I'm on my second monitor looking at your message, I notice on my first monitor a wyveryn that tracked me down. Thank god I noticed him and sprinted out of there, my bear is still less than 50 percent heatlh

So many people hating on this map, I hate to jump on the bandwagon. But the more I play Extinction, the more I can't stand it. Just have a couple breeders left to get, and I'm getting my ass back to Rag.

yeah i don't blame you

i still never played ragnarok but i intend to very soon as i've heard many great things.

extinction isn't all bad, i really enjoy the city, the boss fights are great, all the new dinos (not tamed titans anymore since WC made them completely useless in pve) and element veins but that's the only good things i have to say about extinction.

i also hate this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "horde-mode" i only like element veins for how they look and of course they give a nice amount of element. im sure WC is going to cut the yield on them by 95% in next patch because omigerd pvp is the only gamemode that matters!!!!!

overall i dislike extinction and wc just makes it worse with their awful "balance" decisions that gimp pve/solo players like me. everytime i find something viable, wc comes and nerfs it to uselessness.

when the devkit finally comes out, i'm gonna breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Yea I've already given it a bad review. Honestly, at the time I wrote it, it was graphical glitches that made me write it more than gameplay glitches. But you're right, the more I play it, the more I hate it for gameplay reasons.

I'm glad they added OSDs to the game. No more breeding up super dinos that do nothing more than sit in a pen forever with no purpose.

I do feel like this map closes a lot of the missing gaps in the Ark experience. It's a little insane, but you can tame living garbage disposal resource engines that are way better than the industrial grinder, and have farmable sources of element and tek tier resources. Extinction is basically what you get when you take the previous boss fight experiences of Ark and make them into a map.

well all of that would be fine, if the gameplay wasn't so fundamentally flawed. Like Spazz (above) and I prefer to play solo, which makes dealing with all of this nonsense more rediculous. They just randomly decided to make purple now the highest tier, and the wyverns that spawned in decide to follow you back into the city, and now I had 3 level 330-400 level wyverns outside my base when I finally re-healed my bear and headed back after 30 mins or so away. That doesn't make any sense.

The only saving grace I had is that I forgot I had tamed a high level velonasaur, and he managed to drain their stamina down to force them to land, which allowed my bear army and carno absolutely annihalate them, and luckily only lost a parasaur I had from when I first started on the map, and minor base damage.. That's rediculous that they were even therer though.

I hate it when the "OG's" die. I always keep them in the middle of my base. A myriad of random dinos and random levels that were my victims of opportunity. Once I get up and running, every tame is expendable, except the ones that made it all possible.
Defektiv Nov 18, 2018 @ 2:19pm
Sounds like the Wyvern issue is having some unintended side effects with the OSD spawned ones staying around and migrating to the city too, even on their own. That will probably change I would hope. But that's not an indictment on the entire feature. I solo yellows regularly and am breeding HP/Melee/STA Rex's to take on red drops. Red and Purple drops require some heavy horsepower but the rewards are also pretty insane. You can get ascendant tek level gear in them like 400+ armor tek armor and ascendant Mek's that are insanely powerful.

The only thing that concerns me about Extinction as far as pve goes... is the lack of vanilla options to counter corrupt dino's damaging everything.... so pain in the butt building in the wasteland.
