Moving ARK from Epic into Steam?
Hey guys!

Sorry if this has been asked and solved.
im one of the many who just now got ARK for free on Epic Games Store and i was wondering if its possible to "migrate" the game into steam, where i have almost all my other games..

Even if its just adding a shortcut from ARK to steam would help alot.

Nope. You get what you (don't) pay for.
I get your choice. Why pay for a game you can get for free. But the price you pay is dealing with Epic Games instead of Steam.
I think there is a way to make the game visible in your Steam library. But it will allways use Epic Games as its launch port. Much like some games you launch trough the Steam library but still open Uplay when you do.

Yes you can, don't listen to the tribalism of the worshippers of Valve/Steam. I posted information on this a few days ago here:

The Steam overlay should work as it has been running on Steam all this time, so Steam Friends will work and you'll be able to take screenshots and add those to your Steam account.

If the Steam overlay doesn't work yet, I'm sure the develops will sort it out soon enough.

Like I said you can make the game VISIBLE in your Steam library. But it still wont be a Steam game. Just a shortcut. Steam even explains this in the very page you posted.

''This will only add a shortcut to your game in the Steam client. This will not allow you to download updates for your game through Steam, nor allow you to use this game as proof of ownership for your Steam account.''

Try re-reading what you posted, particularly the first word, and what the OP actually asked. Almost everything you'd want will be available now, if the Steam overlay works, which I'm sure the developers will sort soon enough, if it isn't already.

I'#m in the same boat, but right now it's only £9 on Steam, so I'm thinking of buying it and starting again. (It's only been a couple of weeks but I love this game)

-Add Non-Steam Game
-Select Epic Games Laucher
-Stonks

I deleted my Epic account after realizing the free version of Ark on Epic does not allow mods of any kind to be used, which excludes pretty much every server except official. Bought a copy on Steam and am happy.

What about mods duh? Only Officials or non-Officials with NO mods. Have fun finding those on your EPIC-Launcher.

There is a reason, why Steam is one of the best launchers out there.

i do not understand why they even game a steam away on epic when you cant join moded steam Servers.

Not everyone wants to play modded servers. In fact the vast majority of players play single player, not on servers at all.
