Friends get "Joining Failed, Connection Timedout" error when joining my non-dedicated server.
I've seen a ton of people make forum posts regarding this issue yet no real fix, many of these originating from several years ago which makes it alarming that this is still an issue.

When my friends attempt to join my non-dedicated server they are able to find it in the server list and hit the join button, however, are met with a "Joining Failed, Connection Timedout" error after about 30 seconds. We also tried having each person host a server but every server was met with the same results. We're able to join random non-dedicated servers which also had people in them which means it wasn't a problem with our connection but rather a problem with the server hosting.
As far as I can tell, we all have decent internet speeds and up to date drivers. All of our games are on the same versions as well (Patch 311.74) and we have no problem playing the game individually on single player. We also aren't using any mods.

Anyway, my question is, what's up with that? How do other people manage to host working servers while we cannot? I've gone through most of the steps that other posts and videos make (resetting router, updating drivers, etc etc) but none have fixed the issue.

Thanks for the reply, I'm new to this game, where would I type that in?

It's in the commandline arguements. so whatever method you use to set the commandline arguments, check it doesn't include rawsockets

I host a dedicated cluster with 5 maps on the same machine, OS is windows 10. After the update Genesis kept giving error "Connection Timeout" and no one could get on. Restarting the map didn't fix the problem. After a machine reboot, Genesis worked fine, but Extinction keeps giving the same error now. Version 311.78

I don't think it's related. He is talking about non-dedicated server.
4 maps works in my dedicated cluster and 1 map keeps giving the connection error.

Did some digging around but I'm still not sure what you meant by that. Would I find this in the game configuration files (ie: ShooterGame/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/) or is it an option I can access in the actual Ark game menu?

Commandline arguements for non-dedicated go in your launch command options in library/right click ark/properties... general tab ... Set launch options ....

However... only limited commandline arguements work there and only those with a - prefix

In non-dedicated... you can add some to your gameusersettings.ini / game.ini ... but not those that are commandline only, arguements

You may also have some kind of config file or GUI that lets you set a bunch of options (services tend to not let you set the commandline itself as it's a security issue, so instead give you a GUI of commandline things you can set)

look around your hosted service configs for a raw sockets option

I was having the same error and the only thing that actually worked was the process of port forwarding. When you create a server, it defaults to LAN or Local Area Network. In a LAN network, only people on the same internet as you can play with you. You have to change the LAN network to a WAN network for your friends to be able to join. You can watch a video on this, the process can be easy to moderately complicated depending on your router. Make the start point 7777 and the endpoint 7777.

So, what I tried so far;
Opened upp all ports from 7776-27031

*Turned off windows defender

*Verifyed all installations

*Made sure rawsockets are off

*Started with mods and without. Mods don't even start to load when trying to connect. Just got the fail time out.

*Trying to start just one server and connect.. does not help

Still, all are there in steam, but connection failure du to time out.

ANYONE GOT ANY OTHER SUGESTIONS that might work? Using ASM.

it's good it works at home, I changed the ports in my launcher .bat ?Port=7777?QueryPort=27016

Just that...

These developers idiots have changed the ports Forwards

Do you mean I should change the 27015 tio 27016 instead? And the same. +1 for every yher server on the query port? I'll try that! Change it in ASM then? Because all that is already opened in portforward on the router.
