Can't play on Crystal Isles

I've downloaded the update and the new map, but whenever I try to start a game in it it just goes back to the main menu and the steam overlay directs me to the Crystal Isles store page. Then steam client has to "Finalize" the game again for about 30 minutes until I can start the app again. What gives?!

I was finally able to play on it after three cycles of downloading the patch + Crystal Isles. Took all day.

Make sure you download the DLC from the store page first. I forgot to do that too...

ok so i found out why i couldnt see crystal isles in store, i had to turn off mature content filter in preferences. hope this helps someone.

when i go to host server and on the list of maps ive got 2 for crystal isle? one is ISO crystal isle the other is just crystal isle? what gives?

I had this problem but found it was because I was using a shared game copy

You do not own the game and thus can not download the DLC. Get the owner to download it for you.

Given there have been scores of updates last June, this is probably moot.

Old thread, does not reflect current status. My issue was originally fixed by copying over Content from ShooterGame.App (Mac path, Linux uses just Shootergame) where devs had placed it instead of the correct Linux path.

I load up Ark, press play on the server I wish to join "Unofficial Lost Island map with mods (which are all downloaded)". It loads up and then immediately gives me the Steam overlay and essentially prompts me to download the Crystal Isles DLC. I have the Crystal Isles DLC check marked in the Steam ARK: DLC section. I went to "Verify integrity of game files" and did that process many times. I thought that the "2 files failed to validate and will be reacquired." message was an issue (everyone in the Steam discussions says it is just normal). However, nonetheless, there is a seemingly random 1.4KB download that happens every time I go through that process... Anyway, I try to load up Ark again and click on the server for (Lost Island) and it simply does the same thing again. I restarted the PC, I deselected the Crystal Isles DLC in Steam and reselected it, which prompts a 5.5 GB update.... (which is weird since it's a 42ish GB file..) But, I've done that 5.5 GB update 2 times. What am I missing?

CORRECTION- Crystal Isles is 47.24 GB... Also, upon doing that 5.5 GB "update" or whatever it is, by deselecting and reselecting the Crystal Isles DLC in the Steam page, it does show ## GB/5.5 GB with the download symbol and then just to the right of that it has a hard drive symbol with ## GB/47.24 GB... So, it clearly means it's updating the Crystal Isles DLC pack... but even after downloading that update twice, it still prompts me to download the Crystal Isles DLC when attempting to join the server.

You stated you're trying to play Lost Island... Have you even downloaded that DLC?

With that said your issue is different to this thread you've necroed as they were actually trying to play crystal isles. And not Lost Island as it didn't exist at the time.

If that is the case it's best to start your own thread.
