The reason for the turret cap is due to the massive performance hit the servers take when there are too may turrets in too small an area. WTF do you want? People ♥♥♥♥♥ about the optimization in the game. Then when WC finds and looks to fix some issues peple ♥♥♥♥♥ about that.
not only a picture of bundy, but also the mind i see
legacy servers had pvp servers
legacy servers had massive turret bases
somehow, suddenly on the new servers it's an "issue" but on the old ones it never was?
c'mon nyou are smarter than this lol
it only means they broke yet another thing, and instead of fixing they take the easy way out
NERF EVERYTHING
because we spit on balance
You have to make a very small base so that it 25 each side would be close enough to shoot together (=100) and low enough that the roof don't need turrets. Knowing that you can't place plant x or tek turrets as they count in, so no more slowing down.
You can't stop a bronto C4 battering ram.
What is a bronto c4 battering ram? It's a HP bred bronto with a very good platform saddle that has a corridor built as far out as possible from his ass and partitioned to the c4 explosion radius. They stick c4 on the outer most partition and ram it against your wall them blow it, then repeat until all walls are breached or out of partitions.
Now, there is another problem. Where do you store your dinos? Make one pen every 72 foundations with 100 turrets each that can house half a bronto?
Let's say you want to do bosses, alpha ones. You need about 40 dinos, 20 to go, 20+ as breeders.
How do you defend that from a Griffin with an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with flame arrows? Box them in? It would be too big to defend and even a somewhat OK thyla could c4 it through.
Making 40 small boxes with 4000 turrets with 40 feeding trough, 40 generator and 40 bed would be the way.
How about kibble dinos?
Then, there are the first one on the servers that claimed the caves where dinos can't get in and only need 1 wall of turrets. He would have never fit 400 turrets there, but now, he can use 100 heavy ones AND they will have knock back effects against speed c4 runner (which was the only way to breach those base as you get shot at while crawling, specificity of those cave, and then you run to jump over bear traps to c4), which makes those base almost unbreachable. You would have to empty the bullets, which gets a slot buff...
You could compensate bad location with turrets, now, only a few caves would be a good spot, making it easier than before to defend, in which the owner of those cave can breed and use a tek transmitter inside to move his tame in and out, while the rest have a much harder time defending.
I wish the developers would be better informed regarding their own game's PvP meta.
This is absolutely correct. They need to take their time testing all of these things before they accidentally break PvP completely. The problem with putting out patches like this on the live server in ARK is that if something happens to go wrong or is not balanced properly, it can result in thousands of hours of progress being lost and even more players quitting.
Like that's going to hurt anyone, but yourself. But then again, it's your money. :)
So now the local bully with nearly "untouchable" multiple bases saturating the server -- having unlimited turrets / Godly bred dino's -- will now become easier to raid by smaller tribal enemies.
So now the dominant dictator / griever will have to think twice about making enemies on whim or get hit back.
So now Tribal Alliances & Friendships become even more dependant on helping each other to build / defend / rebuild / share breeding stock ........... to fight against their common enemies.
These things sound good to me. Am I missing something here?
You must be a pro veteran ark pvp player, seems like you know everything better. :D
