Release Date & last expansion
You guys are killing me with this release date - im not going to pretend like i haven't been watching it everyday since October.

im all for more of a finished product - maybe the initial announcement\ trailer should have instead been delayed.

On a side note - i think the next expansion will be on "earth" which now resembles a desert planet - make sense to wrap-up the story.

Why would they do another desert dlc? If it the next dlc is on Earth it probably won't be a desert. They are probably going to go more into space in the next dlc.

The end game content explains a bit about whats going on...it even showed the Abberation(Broken ARK) before it was even announced

But i do Agree - Desert has been done - maybe the story-line will follow the Colonist mission party - which it discusses in the decoded info - which would be completely in space guess .

If you ask me, we're probably going to be dealing primarily with oceanic and high-tek gameplay and the creatures will be centered around hybrids and genetic/cybernetic modification.

Only questionable point with that is that the station pics of the planet in its current state and the Aberration ascension final cut scene as well show a desolate landscape with no large bodies of water.

So your ocean specualtion just seems more like wishful thinking versus what we know/have seen thus far.

For what is shown there with forests made me think why we wont start there?

It made me feel story wise should be the first place, extiction happened and aliens tried to start over, beating the boss would trigger a catastrophic event then they would start with the space arks, just my 2c.

But I do understand devs didnt think that at the start of development.

Edit: also would make more sense if aberration was the first place we go after extinction. An ark that had issues, because well it was one of the first and something went wrong.

Then scorched earth, because now the ark did function almost properly but they didnt figure it out how to grow forests and stuff.

And the last place would be the island where they managed to reproduce a more viable enviroment.

Yeah I know Im tripping but makes some sense.

My takeaway from the ending of Aberration cutscene wise is that they have some sort of bubbles of reintroducing flora/fauna to the planet in a terra forming sort of way. Afterall the scene shows the fertile land with a fake dome sky not unlike the arks but then the sky dome holo projection drops(and it may be more akin to a biodome really) and the desolated landscape beyond is shown.

So it could be that we terra form(though the amount of dynamic map work involved would probably exceed the limitations they have. Or that there are similar biodomes spread across the landscape as oasis and probably just like with aberration that players can build in the desolation but with caveats.

I still hold to the quaternary coded message reveals in the first ark ascension with the Island that we are the speciation ♥♥♥♥ deus (or a fledgling version there of with arks intended to trigger full evolution there in(survivor "evolved" afterall since humans are stated to be extinct). I dont think that aliens are the source of the technology/ark (after all notes show/speak of advanced civ tek survivor groups) but our survivor's forefathers. Remember that the ascension station shows different stages of the planet(that it wasnt just 1 punctuated event of extinction but more gradual).

But its all just speculation and there is plenty of wiggle room for the devs to jump the shark or even retcon differently with changes if they so choose.
