Low FPS after 5 minutes of playing
Ever since the last few Ark updates I can no longer reliably play the game as after a few minutes the fps drops down to below 10fps consistently. Previously I was using a Radeon 570 4GB GPU, but I have since changed it out for a AMD 5500 XT 8GB as show below. When I start the game I normally get 60+ fps even at High settings, but after a few minutes of playing(Whether I'm moving or staying stationary) the game becomes VERY choppy. After a few minutes I my fps drops to 4-10fps on High/Medium and 15-20fps on Low. The issue happens regardless of in-game/AMD settings. Additionally, this is on a server hosted on g-portal.us which I've had for a few months, and again didn't start having issues until the latest update(But I'm going to contact them incase it's server side.)

I've tested my card using benchmarking/stress test software as well as other games. It works as intended 60+ fps under normal conditions, and it's not overclocked.

I Googled the issue, and found a few results but they were either irrelevant, outdated, or did not give an answer. So I wanted to post here to see if anyone had a fix or workaround, and to see if others are having the same problem with the same or other GPU's

Note of things I've tried: Reset my computer, reinstalled Ark, reinstalled Steam, removed all mods, reinstalling game on the server, resetting all characters on the server(Only my character is on the server until I resolve the issue), reinstalled graphics drivers, tested different monitor to see if the Ultrawide 2560x1080(?) was causing the issue(was not), tried a different card(My old Radeon 570; still happened).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello, I have the same problem, did you solve it?
AceGamerNA Jan 22, 2021 @ 10:42am
It was a driver related issue as the core speed in Radeon settings was being locked to a certain speed. Before the driver, I had to overclock the GPU in order to get it past that point.

So hopefully, if you have an older Radeon card, a update should solve the issue.
