What are good stats when breeding rexes?
I just started a line of rexes the other day, they've got really good melee (409%) but the health seems a little low, it's only at about five thousand. I did start out with a bad female, but I was hoping the stats would even out once I started breeding, now that I'm on the second generation though I think it might have been a mistake. I'm on valguero so the bosses are easier, but I'm hoping to eventually take on bosses like the master controller, so will those rexes be fine, or should I get a better female?

Its easier if you use a stat calculator or mod to get the points in a stat compared to the %.

Download Ark Smart Breeder and set that up

Your rex have ~18 points in HP - thats trash. 32 points are average for non-tek-rex. Try to get a rex with minimum 37 points (9240 HP).

Are you breeding with the s+ mutator or with out?

I had a feeling that was lower than it should be, I'll go back to genesis and see if I could get a better female

The closer to to 10k the better or above, that melee is really good though.

Ah.. is this an appropriate thread to show off my just completed Tek Rexes?

These guys started at 12k health and 378% melee. That's 53 points in health and 43 in melee. Bit low on the melee but I spent ages looking and even restarted the mutations after I found a 1 point upgrade, but now they're looking pretty sweet. These guys should have no problem beating any bosses.. dunno about the master controller though, that still seems difficult solo.

Depending on your saddles, alpha dragon and lystrix will be a problem. I had some 54 health 84 melee rexes with 115 armor saddles and alpha lystrix would kill more than half them by the end of the fight.

You'll want to find a better health rex then. Then time invested into finding a rex with higher health will be far less than trying to breed up the HP on your current one.

Your current ones won't be enough for controller, but you don't need massive stats for it. It's more of a duration fight than a brawl like the other bosses. Of course stronger is always better.

Nah, I mashed Alpha Lystrix with journeyman 68 armour saddles, no losses and the rexes barely lost 10k out of 40k health it was that quick. I haven't fought the dragon yet and I expect the burn to hurt but I'll take him down.

When you say 84 melee was that the final stat? I was talking about the on tame stats above. Final stats after mutations and levelling are around 100 health and 160 melee. Default settings btw, no boosted stats.

Yeah that was it's highest. No idea what the tamed stats were, they were some dirty line that had been floating around the cluster for a while. 100 heath 160 melee rexs would destroy lystrix with just primitive saddles, probably even with out saddles. Dragon, probably, just depends on RNG on it's lands and your rexs AI. The 160 melee is definitely good enough, the problem with them on dragon is how derpy rexes are. They will be running into the lava with their 18 wheeler turn radius and end up spending the time it needs to be attacking on fire just trying to get in range. We did it with 100 hp 100 melee theris since they don't derp out as hard and can eat cakes. Only like 4 of 16 survived though. Bring shotguns.

Yeah, I just took all the adults except my male with the high melee to fight the broodmother at the lair and they got slaughtered. I only took three though and two broodmothers spawned, so I was kinda expecting a loss either way, I was mostly just looking for a fun way to get rid of them

You cant add birth-points and skill-points.

i rex doubles his HP every 19 skill-points and doubles his Dmg every 59 skil-points.

A Rex with 81 HP birth-points + 19 skill-points have more HP than a Rex with 100 birth-points and 0 skill-points.

The formula is:

HP = (1100 + 220 * birth-points) * (1 + 0,054 * skill-points) * imprint-factor

For imprint-factor: 1 = non imprinted; 1,3 = vanilla full imprinted
