My specs are:
I7 6700k
1TB SSD
16GB DDR4
750W PSU
Gigabyte GTX 970
on main problem of the 970 is the ♥♥♥♥ nvidia pulled with the Vram.
use some tool like HwMonitor/HWInfo to check how much VRam ARK uses and try to keep it below 3.5GB. That actually helps a bit with the freezes and stutter.
Else a good factory overclocked 1070 should be good for around ~60FPS@1080 all epic with some lowered Shadows. Anything above should work better ofc. It always depends on the amount of Building parts and Dinos you keep around.
I wanted the boost for Borderlands 3 as my 970 wasn't cutting it there to my satisfaction.
When I played at 1080p I tried some different graphics cards at it started being decent from 1070 Ti and up, because the 1070 was just not enough. 1080 would have been perfect so I would say something equal to a 2070 or super today. 2060 super if you can lower some settings. I would say a 5700 XT would be perfect!
That's absurd. I have a 1660 and I can set settings on most Epic at 60-63 fps. Sometimes it dips into 50's. It never dips under 45 because I play at locked 45 and I never see a dip. A 1080 would seriously be overkill for this game. You'll only really lag when you load a map for the first time (you should exit and re-enter the map) that would fix it for you. Otherwise you will have drops as the map loads itself.
