need help! trying to edit server settings
hi, im just trying to make my friend an admin in my server, and im following all these videos on youtube about using "host dedicated server" first to edit all your settings. But every time i click host dedicated server, it closes my game to a console window. how can i fix this so that I can edit my server settings??

Dont use the dedicated server option inside the ARK game client. You need to use Ark Server Manager to host a dedicated server unless you want to go the full text route and host a linux box. Once you are on that dedicated ASM server, remember to set an admin password for the server, then type "enablecheats password" into the command line. Just give your friend the admin password to the server and he can get perms as well. Good luck.

In your original post you specified you were trying to host a dedicated server, and the console window is what happens if you aren't using the proper software to host a dedicated server. You need to select the non dedicated option.

my bad man, i know i wasn't clear but like i'm trying to make him an admin permanently in my NON dedicated server but i just can't seem to find the right answer. I'm looking at all these videos and they just say "host a dedicated server" and then edit the stuff from there. but man this is all so confusing, why didn't they just add an option in the menu to just make someone an admin jeez

Create a text file called AllowedCheaterSteamIDs.txt in the save folder for your non-dedicated game. Add you and your friends Steam64 ID on separate lines.
