Download
I'm trying to download ark and I have 100GB free storage, it says I need 60GB storage to download, I have all the maps purchased and I only want to play ragnarok for now, I don't have enough storage for all maps, how do I download independant maps because everytime I try to download it says I need 189420MB and I have 98263MB but I don't want to download all the maps

You need to disable the DLCs in properties.

However.... Ark alone takes up ~100gig after decompressing.

Wich will leave you no room at all for updating.

Well I have 95.9GB to be exact and that's not even enough to download ark, I just reset my pc to factory just for this reason. Is there any way around this? download ark in my HDD and ragnarok in SSD somehow? I'm pretty angry about this tbh I gave up all my stuff on PC to download it to SSD and now I can't even do it

Don't think you'll have room for Rag either. The base game is a little over 100GB, Rag is a big map on top of that.

If your ssd is that small you will need to settle for an hdd install.

I have a 500g ssd... with nothing but Ark and my OS on it

I had ark installed on HDD but then just like 10 minutes ago I factory reset my PC so I could download it on SSD and I thought it was a 60GB most download but this is ridiculous, 100GB+ for 3 maps that I'm not even gonna use I just want rag for now because I'm currently doing a primal fear/prometheus series and it took 1-2 hours to load

It's actually crazy that a $4000 gaming PC comes with an SSD card of only 120GB, that's mad annoying

100Gb for one map, The Island. add DLC maps, add Rag and The Center you're looking at 200Gb-250Gb, add mods and download server files you're looking at maybe 300GB-450Gb

Well yeah I was young, I got it for christmas from my parents who don't know ♥♥♥♥ about pc's, and I didn't know how to do anything with PC's. But it's a bit mad to put a 120GB SSD and then have a 2TB HDD

Yeah well be all and end all is.... use that drive for your OS and apps only.

Guess the SSD is purely for the OS then. In some circles it's perfectly okay to have your OS on the SSD for quick rebooting and put your games on a large HDD. Those people are nucking futs.

I've just been told multiple times to switch ark to SSD and I'm tired of waiting 1-2 hours for ark to load and constantly crash it's so irritating.

You have 3 choices.

Install Ark to hdd... then move it to ssd and have NOTHING but the Island and your OS .

Install to hdd and run no or small/few mods.... or put up with long mod load times.

Or uninstall till you get a larger (1t at least) ssd.

I could get a 1TB SSD but I don't know a single step to installing it

Plenty of youtubes about installing ssd's ... go for nvme if you can... but if not sata ssd is fine.
