Alpha ice fishing Impossible

I get 10 fishes in the first 10 minutes, Then I get to 14 and they never bite the rod anymore. Always. Had 4 minutes left for the last 2 and they didnt bite. This is stupid. It takes soo long too and its really tedious.

I am at 100% focus catch every fish and switch holes when there are no coels nearby. What am I doing wrong?

There are mutliple ice fishing holes.
Have you tried that?

I hate that one because all the wild dinos on the lake

I always switch between them. Using your own rod doesnt help either. The salmon dont count. And yeah its awfull. One tine I was at 6 fish. A monky walks up to my chair and get madand attacks me so I kill it and the a bear gets close...

Managed ti get 11 fish in the first 9 minutes by swapping hole each 2 fish, Then at fish 11 the bext one took 4 min and then there was no coel to be found. This mission is definiatly broken im 99% sure

yeah Im giving up this has to be patched it is not possible to catch 16 fish if 12 to 14 fish spawn or if they dont bite for 4 minutes. For the alpha boss you can skip 8 missions and its sad that Ill have to use one of the passes for a fishing missions. Even the race missions are actually possible if you get lucky with wildlife and server latency but this is just something else. Wasted hours on this...

I see this thread is pretty old now but just gonna go ahead and say what i did to do it on alpha. I tried it probably 10 times failing needing 1-2 fish every damn time and there just wasnt any remaining in the pond. got tilted and tried to count em' but with 15 fish moving around it can seem like 16. anyway i went trough the trouble of getting a tek helm, bought 1 element and equipped it. also shoot a salmon with a crossbow and sword the whole pond to death, should make your life alot easier. so i tried reseting the mission over and over but there was always 14-15 fish. never the 16 you need. so i decided to try something different. started mission, jumped in a hole, killed 3 coels and behold like 8 more respawned so i ended up having around 20ish fish making the mission super easy. still had atleast 5 fish remaining when i finished. If you've been struggling with this mission you should give this a shot.

I forgot to message after I got it but yeah I purged the lake and then for each fish I killed 3 more appeared xD Also a tip you may want to try a controller as there are less button inputs to choose from so you won't mess up. I found the keyboard way harder for the mini-game

I ended up putting down a dino leash and putting my basilosaurus on aggressive. He cleared out the fish and I had so many coel in there i finished with 7 minutes left!

I did clear out all the salmon first by eating some rare flowers. The ones along the edge don't always come just attacking the others.

I do know on beta you could catch the fish with your own fishing pole and sap and get loot. The
next step is to try this with a good rod and honey.

Best of luck this made this mission very manageable.
