Ark download not working
Recently there has been a ark update. My update works fine, despite the weird download speed dropping to 0 sometimes, it downloads fine.

Until it get to 4.6Gb, then it stops downloading and is only using disk usage.

I already tried:

-restarting download, same happened
-verifying game files, but it didn't help
-clearing download cache
-changing download region
-I have 200GB of space free, so thats enough since the update is 4.9GB

I really need help, so it would be appreciated.

EDIT: I just let it sit for a period of time, and it seems to be downloading slowly. I think it just miscalculated the filesize, because it does use disk.

It may be unrelated but I get to about 4 minutes remaining and then is insta-crashes my PC. I've stopped the download and I can play other Steam games fine.

mine is tanking my SSD, it's downloaded all of it about 20 mins ago but is still chugging along, i barely even play anymore but i'm the dino minder while everyone is busy, i might just leave at this point, the downloads are stupidly unoptimized

Sadly you are very wrong here. Steam handles all the downloading all WC does is upload the needed files to the Steam servers. It is not just Ark that has this issue either. Personally have dealt with Steam Support on this matter. Was told it was my hardware, that I needed to look into replacing my hard drives. This even happens to me on my brand new out of the box SSD that is 1TB.
It is fusturating but the biggest issue is STEAM. People are fast to blame game developers and sometimes it is on them. Anything you download though is on Steam. Then you download your favorite music do you think that comes from the Artist? You watch Netflix you think the movie producer is sending you the files? This is no different.

Reason I say this is because only the people that use Steam everyday are going to get Steam to clean up their mess. When you can go to Epic and download 30GB in the time it takes 10GB on Steam there is an issue. Steam is not going to listen to one or two of us. 100,500,1000 of us start complaining and they will listen, more than that they will fix the issue.

so that it's taken 40 mins at least so far after downloading is Steams issue? huh everything else downloads nice and quickly, but Ark time after time takes far longer than it should to unpack the download

Can't you all play with the ark? I don't know when it will be solved

It's probably having to reorganise/overwrite files on your harddrive, is the green line (disk activity) moving while the download stops? if so its completely normal and happens for other games too like rust.
