How do kibble taming dynamics work?

So gamepedia lists Superior Kibble (pink) at the top of the Megatherium taming chart. Does that mean Superior Kibble is the absolute best food to tame one with, or can I tame faster if I feed a Megatherium a higher level kibble, like Extraordinary Kibble?

If that's the case, does that mean the highest level kibble is always the best taming food for every creature (that accepts it)?

Each tier tames on its preferred kibble OR BETTER ... but according to the same wiki ... it wont be *faster*
