What the hell is up with Megatherium!?
I've started on Extinction earlier today, and this Megatherium decided to show up near where I was building in Sanctuary. Here's where the lumbering pain in the ♥♥♥♥ confuses me, I can run past it (like within petting distance), and it won't even so much as bat an eye at me, yet I can be gathering, minding my own business and it just runs up and ♥♥♥♥♥ slaps me from behind for no reason. It took 3 Enforcers (or whatever the things are that look like giant Destroyer Droids from Star Wars: Episode 1 are called) that just came out of nowhere to finally kill this thing too.

I know certain herbivores are hostile and have an aggro range, like Therizinosaur and Gigantopithecus, but Megatherium just seems way too unpredictable for it to be intended.

They are very dangerous to new players and small or weak tames, but without their buff they are not much of a threat.

I don't think they're aggroing onto you, rather any bugs near you like meganaura or the ants. They're highly aggressive to insects, and their attacks aren't singular but AoE.

I'm not sure, if this is THIS creature, but maybe Megatheriums are the insect-haters? It might be, that I confuse it with another creature, however.

So if my assumption is true, they rage, when an insect is near them and attack everything in range.

I got this experience myself once, when I was riding a moth in SE. Before I was able to react, both the moth and I went to the grave...

A tiny (and the most annoying creature in this game, even more than the thiefs imho) ant is enough. YOU might even not notice it, but the mega WILL rage.

AFAIK are spiders considered insects too, in that context. (I know, they're arachnids, and not considered insects in reality.)

BTW: the Gas bags are also considered insects in this context....

It is intended. They are predictable and will agro to you when insect buffed.

Thanks for that, I'm not seeing any bugs around though, then again, I usually tend to not notice Meganeura unless I accidentally aggro them by harvesting from a corpse they're after. I do remember being attacked by a group of Titanomyrma when I first reached that point though.

Tame your own sloth as soon as you can. I'm editing my original reply to include Dododex. It's a website that has all kinds of useful information and calculators. Check it out.

Then it got agro on the ants and in it's red fury decided to go after anything that moves in it's vicinity
