Why Cant I change map on dedicated server?
Ive changed config files, added command line arguments to the start, nothing will change the server from using default setup despite having custom config.ini, placed in proper folders from what I can tell in the shootergame->config->windowserver file.
What gives?

What does this mean? Single player? Or are you running a dedicated server on your local machine?

1) There's no config.ini. The ini files for Ark are called game.ini and gameusersettings.ini.
2) If you're playing singleplayer, the files that need to be changed are located in your Ark\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowNoEditor, this is however, unecessary, because you change maps by selecting the map in the local game setup menu, in the center of the menu screen.
3) If you're running a dedicated server, use one of the many server managers out there.

You have a .bat file to start the server, aye?

"start ShooterGameServer.exe Ragnarok?listen"

unoffical dedicated server is running your own server. It has nothing to do with single player and all those steps mean nothing because you cannot use the game GUI to start a server. Thanks tho.

Nope. I dont know where that sumbitch is located! lol. Or where to save one if I made one.
The help site said something about that code line but not where to put it.

All of that information is still relavent. There are 3rd party programs out there (Not ARK) to manage your server. And "Config.ini" is not a file, regardless of Single Player, Dedicated Hosting or Local Hosting.

So, how are you starting the server?
ShuFlngPu Aug 23, 2017 @ 2:14pm
shootergame.exe? in the game server files.
( A:\Steam Folder\steamapps\common\ARK Survival Evolved Dedicated Server\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64 )
It was the only way I could get the server to launch at all. Always loads default configs tho so I know I was missing something somewhere but I couldnt find it myself and the forums were not detailed on this issue.

Did you try using the wiki for information on how to setup a local dedicated server?

Yes, thats the site I was using.
It speaks not of a .bat file or where to place it.

It talks about the config file, but it never uses the config file I want. It always loads default, random name and always the island.

So basically, there is no way to just run it without 3rd party software? Wow. How impressively weak of them. lmfao. Pass.

There is no config.ini available on ARK wiki. Just because it says "config file" does not mean that the file itself is called config.ini

3rd party software makes things easier, so you have less of all of this going on...

Look homeslice, nitpicking over what the file is called dont matter. We are talking about the same thing i just dont feel like switching pages to ACTUALLY look up exactly what its called.
Its the config file that help site tells you to create. I even tried both manually coding the file and using the file generator.
If I input the map code in that .ini file, it puts in the arguments but ALWAYS puts in "Theisland?listen" before I can input any other argument.

If you don't know what file you're editing, how we can tell you what's going wrong?
With only half information, we can't tell you what you're doing wrong that it's not working. We're not mind readers.

If you're reaching out for help, you need to have all the information needed to help you.
