Mute option

Is there a mute option for server admins for players that are racist/toxic in chat? Maybe a mod?

EXACTLY! Also, ppl couldnt just shout out in global if they were being attacked. Some servers get full of "white knights" that pretty much kill/wipe anybody who tries to pvp. It would make it so you couldnt just scream in global and make your problems go away. You would be forced to actually deal with your own issues, or purposely form a bond with ppl strong enough to protect you if you needed.

I'd have to agree with this guy, being racist is just a meme, and people know that there are special snow flakes that get offended by everything, so it's real easy to get a rise out of someone like that even tho that person most likely doesn't actualy care what color anyone elses skin is.

Id recommend pple not using words like n****r and nazi etc in text chat. It take less effort to Not type words that dont need to be typed.

Online games cross sovereign borders... what may not be considered racist in one country can be the pinnacle of racism in another.

I give pple on our server one chance to censor themselves / change dino/tribe names. If they dont comply straight up... they get progressively banned.

Online is no different than real life.

If it is your server and someone is being negative, confrontational, racist or foul best thing to do for yourself and the other person is ban them. Keeping problem people out of your life makes life a lot more enjoyable.

As to the mute option... chat options in Ark are budget at best... mute/ignore/pm (on/off) should be standard in any online game.

Yup. It would b nice to have in officials, to ignore spam or noobs that don't use local, tribe or voice to talk among themselves.

Ya, I just think back to how much of those things were added post-release on previous games and hope that we get the same here.

that would also be a pretty cool idea. select specific players or tribes to have different color text in chat.

Well if we are dreaming of color coded chat tabs and names, why not go for broke and beg for chat fields to be moved onto our 2nd or 3rd monitor and be fully adjustable?

Ya, OP stated he would rather not ban them and get accused of abusing admin power. I understand that. Being muted will make the offender either focus on their game because they aren't having fun in chat, or leave.

Exactly...

I look at a server I am renting as my home and you are a guest in my home.
You come into my home and start running your mouth and annoying/irritating people with your behavior then you will promplty be kicked out of my house and onto the street.

Same on the server. You annoy the others and irritate the rest then you are getting banned with no second chance. As Spock said in Star Trek and it holds true as a server admin "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one."

So the many are irritated by the one, the one is gotten rid of.

If individual players can mute individual players... there would be no need for an admin mute. (Although still not a bad idea).

I would think if the op is worried about getting abused on the server ad page for banning... they would get abused just the same for muting lol.

If someone gets banned for continuing to be an a'ss after multiple pple have muted them... they realy would have no excuse other then... they are an a'ss and everybody agrees.
