Make sure you have your egg layers mate boosted. You'll always need at least 1 male dino for all your females. Mate boosting doubles the chance of an egg dropping. Next, tame an oviraptor and that makes it so there's something like a chance every 11 minutes to drop an egg.

Basically gives a buff of sorts to a small area where all egg layers within that area will be more likely to drop an egg. The oviraptor has to be set to wander however, so put enough items in its inventory till its encumbered so it doesn't move around.

Unless something has changed in the past year...
Tamed dinos have a chance to lay eggs every 17 minutes (with a few exceptions)
The oviraptor buff will turn that into 11 minutes and 22 seconds (33% interval increase).
