The problem is it most of it spoiling within 8 hours or so.
A full inventory and a through of meat is enough for the giga for 10 hours. But you need to either put preserving salt in it, and have a good bunch of cooked meat/cooked fishmeat in there to make it last long enough.
Or just plop down 1 or 2 tek troughs if you have access to them, that'll last too.
1 meat takes 40 minutes to spoil. A stack of meat is 20. A full stack therefore spoils in 13 hours so the issue is not that all the meat in the trough will spoil but it does highlight the importance of factoring spoilage in calculations. i.e. To say "my giga eats 2 meat per minute so I need 10 hours x 60 minutes x 2 meat" as someone suggested would lead to a dead giga because in 10 hours 3/4 of that stack has spoiled.
In fact the stacks go to 40 in official now, so, 26 hours should be ok for him to leave the giga 11 hours with a full feeding trought if it only eats 2 per minute. After 11 hours there would be arround 1k meat left. So yeh, what i said was not and absolute stupidity.
Oh that's good that they increased stacks on officials then.
