Easter Event: Private Server
I know it's not up yet, but for when it is, do private servers still need to use the server command "-activeevent=Easter"? I only ask because I know they removed the older holiday content, and I'm not sure if things have changed. The wiki also shows no indication.

When you have to manually put in an event command where do you put it exactly? It's always started automatically on my dedicateds and privates.

If you check the Ark Dev Tracker they've explained why they removed the ActiveEvent system, so that consoles can cope with the memory overhead. They say that events will only be playable during the time when they are being run, as such it seems like there will be a different method to activating events when they are running from now on, whether it uses the same server argument or not they don't say.

I use ARK Server Manager, and it goes in the server arguments field in the Administration tab. Some holidays started automatically, like Halloween and Christmas, but smaller events always needed an argument.

This is always a mess each event, there is never a clear indication of whether is needed or not the command line. Should be easy for the Devs to clear this at each event announcement.

im guessing it will use the -ActiveEvent=Easter

I do not use ASM tool, i edit everything myself.
But like OP mentions, no actual solid info on wiki if this way triggers the changes/updates they do since they never state the proper way non official servers should do.
A few instances i noticed also they added the launch line, in patch notes, days already after the event going..

The last events i used the command line and seemed to work fine, new skins showing in cooking pot, etc, im never sure for the colors.

At the server launch line you would put this at the end: -ActiveEvent=Easter

Server launch line, you mean in the .BAT? I don't use ASM either, I just do it all manually. But that's easy enough to add in if that's where it goes.

On your Steam Library... Ark: Survival Evolved..
Right click it and select Properties.
Click the buttonbar for Launch Options.

Enter -ActiveEvent=Easter
Close it and launch Ark.

If it work(s/ed) you get Ark with the Easter event.

The idea that they're making us wait for the holidays in question to play with them active... seriously cuts into my enjoyment of the game.

Friends/Family in the service can't always be here for those events, and being able to run with them Out-of-season when they're home made the game a lot more fun.
I don't give a flying flip if people on mobile can't be bothered to ensure they aren't running events when they don't want to.

yes, sorry, in the .bat file of the server where you have your launch line ;) it is pretty simple indeed.

That does not work for a dedicated server. the question was for a dedicated server.

It appears that private servers have the event auto activated. The command line isn't necessary.
necaradan666 Apr 8, 2020 @ 12:28pm
However if you have -ActiveEvent=None in your launch argument already the event won't run until you remove it.

Sorry I am new to this game.

I play solo (not dedicated server, just single player) with my daughter and we are trying to enable the Easter content. I have tried the -activeevent=easter in launch options as suggest a few places, but it doesn't seem to work. Is this the correct method? How will I know it worked? (I.e. where would the new skins be to know it worked?)

You'd find dodo bunnies and oviraptor bunnies, you'd find easter eggs dropping all over the ground and you'd find craftable skins inside a Holiday folder in the cooking pot.

Well it spawns dinos but only when it can, easiest way is use the command killallwilddinos, which will wipe wild dinos and start spawning new ones

Go to the beaches where you see lots of dodos and look for colorful ones with bunny ears laying eggs on the ground.

Egg lay speed in advanced does affect their rates, so you could have them spawning eggs every second...

Get a bunch of eggs and bring to cookpot, make recipes in there, you'll see em.

Then grab a bunch of eggs, place on ground and crack open, eventually you can get the Chibi pets or whatever they're called.
