Best starting place for ragnarok?

Ive seen many posts about this, mostly i see highlands, specifically NE and E, but one problem with NE highlands is there jis NO HIDE. No easy dinos to kill for hide, so what is the BEST spawning location in ragnarok for beginners? Im a noob at ark, need a nice easy spawn please, thanks.

And I wouldn't advice to tame anything but pteras with it. They can take on allos and trikes, but it depends too much on level/stats and saddle and if you're just starting out it will be too risky imho.

The default ragonark spawn was the biggest mistake I made in ragonark. I believe it is the most boring spawn on any ark there is. The only plus is a nearby beacon for easily leaving/transfering items. About all you'll ever seen is turtles, thief birds, the uncommon raptor, the rare carno, dodos, and some wandering therizino in the distance.

If you want easy, this place is probably the king of easy.

Viking bay has a lot more going on, maybe too much even for newer players. You can get rexes, allos, etc. And even a danger you don't get on other arks, Scorpion fish coming out the water and onto land to attack you.

One more question, in highlands how do you get chitin for a pteradon saddle?

The dead whales give a ton of keratin, hide and spoiled meat.
Once you have a equus saddle, go farm these, harvest narco berries with Horsy and craft narcotics in the inventory.

I've started so many times in Rag and this has been tested by me a lot.

Best place for a temp base is a small island very close to the shore. You have metal close by and it's relatively safe since nothing tends to spawn there that's aggressive. But beware, it's close to a giga spawn, so it's best to watch out for that. But you can usually suicide lure it into the ocean.

Thanks but my idea for a base is a cave behind a waterfall.
