Sandstorm in my base >.>
It's a big base. 20x30 and 13 walls high. Half metal, half stone. Why does sandstorm happen to me in my base with all the doors closed? No holes in the walls or anything. Fully enclosed.

if you have a gate placed in your base as a wall the the storm comes in. there is something with snappoints and so on.

I have an dobe structure that is only about 15x20 or so and has 2 behemoth gates as walls on two sides. The sandstorms do not go inside that structure...

Perhaps stone acts differently?

No, if you don't line the gates up properly , or the building is too big, you will not get the house bonus and will suffer weather effects inside.

Sand and rain get in when the base isn't sealed. Somewhere in your building there's a snap point that is not connecting.

There is an issue with large structures right now that has not been fixed. If a base exceeds a certain size the housing effect does not apply. I have a 40 width, 40, length and 20 height base and sandstorms get in all the time. I just built my crafting room in a smaller sealed area within the base so I don't have to deal with it.

I keep hoping Wildcard will fix it before launch.

The house buff is calculated every step you take and it works out to apply the buff to you or not by checking 6 foundations wide in all 6 directions.

If a wall, ceiling or foundation is not found in all 6 directions, the buff it not applied. If there is no buff, you are classed as being outside and effected by any storm.

So you could have someone standing next to you that gets the buff and no storm, while you do.
You need to split your building up into smaller cubes.

They fixed it for me. About 2 patches ago I started getting the home buff in my buildings where it didn't exist previously. It's still not perfect, but it's about 90% improved now.

I wouldn't say 90% My base is kind of a base within a base. If the structure is closed off visually it should be closed off from weather. The smaller section where I keep all my crafting stations and vaults/chests never has issues but the massive area where I keep the dinosaurs still has issues. We have a base on The Center too and rain comes through but it's not really an issue like a sandstorm is.

Maybe you wouldn't say 90%. But it's about that for me. The rain has stopped in about 90% of the buidings where it used to come thru and I see the home buff now where it wasn't before.

I'll see what I can do to fix it, but this home buff thing needs some work still. My fully enclosed structure should not be experiencing a sandstorm inside.
