The internet is full of that tutorials and it includes the fact that you have to crash the server - even DDoS.

Guys, I just want to remind you:

If you do that, they will catch you soon or later with an armee of lawyers and sue you. Its not a "game thing" anymore. It will really effect your life and make a lot of trouble for your rest of your life - if you have to pay thousands of dollar back.

You just craft and place 2 structures and it'll crash the server. I wont say how its done becauae its easy to find on YT.

Lag is most often a duping station, a generator and hundreds lights to lag the server.

So there is no punishment by law in like 98% of the cases.

Wow you showed those kids very good reasons to stop the things they ar doing for weeks now. You stopped them and saved all official servers. Wildcard should give you a medal

Using a well known technique to crash servers IS a denial of service attack.
It s up to the judge to belive a story of why it wasn t intendet, i wouldn t wanna risk it.

No it's not... Do you seriously think a judge would even accept a case about people building stuff in an unfinished videogame that causes issues?... It's the fault of the Devi that these possibilities even exist

A well known technique requires a foundation and a turret, so why would you commit crime to achieve the same result?

Its devs fault its so easy to crash their game using ingame structures. At least the duping station actually lags tge server, so you can blame Nitrado. The other method iits just a bug, pretty easy to correct/mitigate.

You can crash any server playing legit with 2 structures, no ddos, no cheating, anything malicious at all.

Imagine the server host hosts also some other companys stuff and that one gets down for even 12 hours because some scriptkiddie attacks ARK.

Other companys sues the hoster, hoster searches reason why server went down..

It s a chain without gaps.

DDoS is another story wich even involves national cables/routes/.. don t mess with it !

Please use your brain. The server software crashes. Not the entire physical server standing in the server center there... In fact nitrado virtualizes everything. The wors case would be a crash of the virtual machine wildcard rented there... It would even benefit other companies that have rented another virtual machine on that server since it has more system resources available ..

Oh and do you even understand that nitrado is a game server company? Why would a company put their important stuff on game servers?

The restart of a server in fact leeches a lot resources,
the people wich get paid to fix problems are another story.
Assuming this i wouldn t say other companies "benefit" from it.

Dude it's a virtual machine you are talking about.. Restarting it doesn't cost any resources... You press a button and it uses its own allocated resources and nothing else. Not even a single other server running on the same machine will even get a 0,000001ms ping increase because of that... It's isolated. Learn what a VM is

as 123 mentioned correct. it doesnt matter if its a DDoS or just DoS. The Law is very clear to this in Europe and many other countries. And if you are underaged your parents will get trouble...

PS: For those who dont know what DoS (Denial of Service) is = its when you make the server crash. Even if you just use a bug in game, you will get penalty. If you do it more often, you will get more ...

1 problem. Litigation requires a lot of money and unless you are talking about a deep pocket organisation that wants to sue people to make examples of them (music / movie industry / Blizzard) individuals simply are not worth pursuing from a financial point of view. .e.g would you sue OP when your costs are 20k and his net worth is 10k?
