Someone said on another thread somewhere its an alpha boost. Was there an alpha nearby?

For me yes.
EDIT I forcetamed an Alpha, put it on passive and unclaimed it so I could set a test dimorph on it to see what it would look like at max level. Since it was on my "team" maybe that's why my dinos had the arrow.

Is there an alpha hyena or does it just mean there is an alpha nearby? I saw this arrow on a wild Purlovia the other day.

That yellow arrow above the name looks like the xp buff arrow from a nearby lystro. That is the only time I have ever seen that arrow. Maybe it's a glitch if you don't have a lystro nearby?

The yellow arrow means they are being buffed by a nearby Alpha creature.
