The issue is that it was brought in from a mod to an official DLC. Mod maps go into the same folder as the island map. Official DLC's Scorched Earth and the Center have their own folders and character save paths. Read this: https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/200203-ragnarok-save-folder-for-single-player-shared-with-island-data/
My singleplayer island character could play on my singleplayer ragnarok. all i had to do was spawn randomly but i kept my character and level. however switching back to the island and making a new character there and switching back to ragnarok, my old character became an unconcious npc where i left it and my new character from the island was seen as an enemy by old dinosaurs that were protecting this other unconcious character. i discovered this by going into spectator mode to take pictures of ragnarok and seeing the name.
Not sure if it can still happen like this or not, but thought i'd share.
The Center was also a mod that became official DLC. The real difference is they goofed when they made Ragnarok a DLC by not fully separating it from the Island. They did it right with The Center.
Wrong, The Center and SE have their own folders and character profiles, but for some reason the Island and Ragnarok share a folder.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thank you so much for the info will save me a headache.
Then my work here is done. ;)
Yes, that was pointed out with stating that SE and the Center having their own folders and character save paths.
You could have just spawned in just like TheIsland map and had you same character, if you wanted to 'start fresh' YOU should have simply made a backup of your current save game files.
I mean, if you had created a new character in TheIsland map would you be posting here because it erased your old game?
so your statement "Ragnarok Single Player wipes Island Single Player" is basically wrong, it actually doesnt do that YOU did
Uh, well, if it makes you feel better to think of it that way, okay. As long as folks understand that Ragnarok and the Island share a single player character, in contrast to the other two DLC maps which have their own character files, I don't care.
