Set the guard dino on neutral.
Done :)
The problem is when you can't ride the dino you want to defend.
EDIT: Just saw the last post. Make another dino fight close to a tame is a bad idea, your tame can get hit easily and lose TE.
i have a walled in areas where i let about 10 beavers wander for wood collection. Each beaver has a rex on neutral on follow. Before i did this i lost a beaver per week to wild dinos. Monstly to brontos. Since the Rex Army is guarding them not a single loss happened.
Every other day one of the rexes jumps the fence but since the beaver is still inside he will rum himself against the wall until i let him in.
Strangely beavers never wandered out ...
kool.. didnt know that thanks
2 teams.
1 Passive/1 Neutral on each team. One team on each side of tame, depending on where the tame is downed.
Neutral following passive |||||| Passive |||| TAME ||||| Passive2 ||||| Neutral2 following Passive2
That's the setup i use for solotames. Usually i got pretty good wolves, so i go with Agressive instead of neutral and just rid the area.
Another setup i like using is 1 Argent on passive, 4-5 on follow on that on agressive, levelled for wrecking every living thing.
Your tame will be quite safe unless the fight is taken to it. I tend to be by the actual tame for a little time as possible, as wild dinos tend to target players first.
