Ark Genesis - Tek Rex untamable?
I was in the Lunar Biome, I was trying to tame a 174 Tek Rex and for some reason it kept losing torpor in extreme amounts, within half a second it would lose its torpor from 1700 to 250. When I got to a vantage point and got lucky to knock it out, I started taking scorched damage and I went to go hide into a shadow and left narcotics and mutton in the Tek Rex. When I came back after 15 seconds, the Tek Rex has already woken up as if it lost all 17k torpor in a second.

So I have a question, is the Tek Rex in genesis tamable or not? Or is this just one of the billions of bugs that take place in this game

Yeah but torpor dropping quickly to the point it loses torpor faster than giga?

I recall seeing the torpor instantly drop over 1k in less than a second, like I never saw it drain - it the number changed completely without decreasing

I have tamed 2 tek rexes. It can be done, just very tough due to other mobs.

Were they high or low level? I can knock out low level, but I can't get enough torpor in a high level tek rex, even with a 755% rifle.

^^^^ this is happening to me, the torpor drops drastically in big numbers

It is some effect in the biome that can wake them up. They are tameable, I have been pulling quite a few out of there, but sometimes they just lose all their torpor and wake up. Starve tame, trap them, and be prepared to tranq them multiple times. I haven't identified what does it yet, it seems pretty random.

My latest was a lvl 60s rex, so that may be part of it. But overall the torpor hasnt fallen fast enough to kill the tame process.
That I recall it was in shade, no direct radiation, but idk if that influences it.

i just went and tamed a 174 Tek Rex to test this. Seemed like any other rex tame. But I did trap it under an arch, so it was in shade. Lost 3 levels due to a Human NPC attacking it but otherwise nothing weird happened.

In order for your test paramaters to be more accurate though(since you're admittedly using mod) it might bode better to use default settings/ini's and no mods in order to make a clean test/control for the situation.

Since I know what the mods I'm using do and none effect rexes, or the environment, there's no real point. And most settings are default apart from a difference in rates which should also have no effect on the issue. The real test would be to also tame a rex in direct sunlight with radiation.
I agree with scientific method generally but when you have variables already logged you can work around them, take them into account during the conclusion.

I play completely vanilla and have had Tek Rexes lose all their torpor instantly. I couldn't tell you what did it. I have knocked plenty out and once they are out they have stayed that way.

Just got another 174 Tek rex in direct radiation sunlight. No effect, no indication it was ever going to wake up sooner than normal for its torpor rate. I stood there for hours, almost died multiple times, it was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. But I saw no evidence lunar radiation has any effect on a sleeping tek dino. Seems to me it's a bug similar to when dinos woke up randomly from years back, not a lunar biome or tek dino feature of any sort.
